I have 3 ways to look dressed up on a budget.
I was invited to my friend’s college graduation party and wanted to look nice but I didn’t want to go too crazy with the outfit. The graduation was at her parent’s house so I knew it wasn’t going to be super fancy and I also knew that there would be some outdoor activities.
The 3 main tips are: Use accessories, Wear a dress with pockets, and Make your own shirt!
Accessories can really make an outfit. Even if you are wearing something casual, like jeans, you can use accessories to dress up your outfit. I decided to wear a cow costume that I had bought earlier this year (the perfect excuse for me to wear it). I paired the cow costume with black leggings and brown boots.
I decided to make the cow costume look a little more formal by adding gold jewelry. I wore gold hoop earrings, a few bangles, and a gold necklace with large coins hanging from it. This made the cow costume look less like a Halloween costume and more like an outfit for a classy event.
1. Buy a cow costume
One of the cheapest, most sure-fire ways to look dressed up on a budget is to simply buy an adult cow costume. Adult cow costumes are available in a range of sizes from small to extra-large and can be bought for as little as $20.
2. Make your own costume
If you’re like me and can’t imagine buying a ready-made costume without at least trying to make one yourself, then this option may be for you! Making your own cow costume is actually quite simple, and can add a special touch that really makes your outfit pop. For example, you could make a cow mask out of cardboard and black fabric, and then attach it to a plain white t-shirt with red fabric paint to create spots all over it. Then wear black leggings or tights and voila! You have yourself a cheap DIY cow costume!
3. Don’t wear anything at all
Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best solutions. If you’re not into costumes or just don’t have any time left before the party starts, why not try going au naturale? A wardrobe change isn’t always necessary: sometimes all it takes is some confidence!

You can’t go wrong with the trusty cow costume. It is cheap, it is easy to make, and it is sure to get you some attention at the party. Just use black construction paper for the ears and snout and white cloth or construction paper for the rest of the head. Then use a black marker to draw a face on a white balloon and cut slits in it to fit it onto your head like a mask. Finally, wear all white or all black clothing depending on your preference. Use lots of interesting make-up techniques to give yourself an exotic look that will make people come up and say “wow!” First, find a picture of your favorite animal online. You can also use famous paintings or other famous works of art as inspiration. Then use eye shadow and eyeliner to paint your face based on your inspiration. If you want to take this costume even further, you can add some fake fur using fabric glue, but be careful not to stick yourself!

This one requires more effort than the others but is sure to be worth it when people ask you where you got your costume from
