It’s been a long time since I’ve written about a costume, and that is because I have been making one.

I am not an expert costumer, so this is not a tutorial. It is more of a guide for beginners to get started, or maybe just to give you some ideas. This might be helpful if you are trying to make a Mary Poppins costume of your own.

The first step, as usual, is to decide what you want your costume to look like. There are several versions of the Mary Poppins outfit in the film, but I decided to go with the first one we see her wearing: the blue coat and hat, red scarf and umbrella.

The Mary Poppins costume is one of the most iconic costumes ever created. It is also a relatively simple costume to recreate. For those of you who are interested in making your own, I have provided a basic guide to creating this costume by yourself at home.

1) The Dress: A good place to start is with the dress itself. You can often find a white dress in your own closet or at an inexpensive thrift store for less than $10. If you do not have a white dress, there are several great options out there in the $10-$20 range. Here are some examples from Amazon:

The first thing that you should know about the Mary Poppins costume is that it comes in various styles. Some of these styles include:

The Mary Poppins Costume (The Musical)

The Mary Poppins Costume (The Movie)

Mary Poppins is a classic Disney story that has entertained fans of all ages for generations. The story follows the main character, Mary Poppins, as she visits her two young charges on a street in London. In this blog post, you will learn how to put together a show-stopping Mary Poppins costume!

Get ready to have everyone singing “A Spoonful of Sugar” when they see your costume. You can even get your friends dressed up as Bert and the kids for a group ensemble.

You can put together a Mary Poppins costume with items that you probably already have in your closet. The key to the outfit is the red bow tie, which Mary always wears with her black dress and parasol. You can use this bow tie pattern to make your own out of red fabric. You will also need to add some white lace around the collar and cuffs of your dress to complete the look.

If you don’t have time to sew your own bow tie, you can find one on Etsy or at a costume shop like Party City.

You may want to wear some white gloves with your outfit too. This is up to personal preference though; some people think they are too hot and cumbersome in warmer weather while others

If you haven’t seen the new Mary Poppins movie, what are you waiting for? It’s a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious sequel to the original. If you have seen the film, and have a sudden urge to dress up as Mary Poppins for Halloween and/or cosplay, this guide is for you. I’ve been googling around and I’ve found a lot of resources that people might not be aware of.

The Costume

I recommend this dress from Amazon. It’s so pretty! It should fit most body types and is $60 on Amazon Prime. It even has pockets!

Accessories

This hat is too cute! It’s $30 on Amazon Prime and would be perfect for any Poppins costume or outfit. It’ll protect you from the sun as well.

A handbag is necessary to store all your bits and pieces (as well as your medicine bottle, of course). This bag is $30 on Amazon Prime and comes with a long strap so it can be worn over the shoulder or across the chest.

A pair of gloves will help hold your bag shut so your sugar cubes don’t fall out along with your shot glass, spoon, teapot, and teacup

I see your point. But I don’t see why you have to go from saying that the kids are bad to saying that Mary Poppins is bad. Maybe Mary Poppins fixes things up, and then she goes off at the end because she doesn’t want to take any credit for it.

What’s wrong with that?

Mary Poppins does take credit. She says so herself: “Every task that must be done, there is an element of fun.” And in the song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” she brags about all the wonderful things she knows how to do, and how they’ll all come in handy if they ever have a disastrous flood (which they do).

On the other hand, Bert gets no credit at all. He just works like a slave fixing up their house and looking after them while their parents are out being silly and vain. And he never complains, or even mentions that he’s unhappy. So in a way he’s more of a saint than Mary Poppins.

As for whether it’s better to be happy or useful, I don’t know. Bert clearly thinks it’s better to be useful; his whole life is devoted to it. Mary Poppins obviously thinks
