When I was a kid, my parents would take me to the store to get my costumes for Halloween. Those were the days, when you could go in the store and find a Hulk Hogan costume, or you could even find an Optimus Prime costume!
Unfortunately, those days are gone. Now that I’m older, I just go browse through the costume section at Walmart and think to myself…these are a bunch of crap!
So what is a person supposed to do if they want a nice costume? Well if you’re like me and your wife, then you start making them yourselves.
Since we have been married, we have made all of our costumes. Now I’m not saying that we didn’t buy anything, but we did make them. It’s really not as hard as it sounds. You can easily make costumes by buying some materials and using things that you already have at home.
This will be a 2 part series on how to make your own costumes without having to spend a lot of money.

If you are thinking about being one of the crewmates, or perhaps an impostor, here is an easy guide on how to make or upgrade your own Among Us costume for Halloween 2020. The best part about this costume is that you can use existing things in your closet to make it!
For those who are confused about what Among Us is, it is a popular online video game currently trending on the app store with over 100 million downloads. In the game you are either a crewmate or an impostor where the goal for the crewmate is to complete tasks around a spaceship and identify any impostors among them. The goal for the impostor is to covertly sabotage and kill the crewmates until there are just as many impostors as there are crewmates. The game has become popular through streaming platforms such as Twitch and YouTube.
Among Us has taken over the world as the most popular multiplayer game, and with multiplayer games comes multiplayer costumes. If you are looking to make your own costume that is cheap and easy to make, I have the guide for you. Here are some of my tips and tricks to creating your own Among Us costume to wear on Halloween or any other event you may be going to!
1. Find an old, oversized long sleeve shirt in your closet (or if you have a friend who is willing to donate one of theirs). I would recommend buying a red one because that’s the main color for Among Us characters, but any color will work!
2. Find an old pair of black leggings or sweatpants. You can use any dark-colored leggings/sweatpants really. You can also just cut up and sew a pair of old jeans. Either way will work perfectly!
3. Take a black or gray sweatshirt/hoodie and cut out holes for your arms, head, and chest area (see picture above if this doesn’t make sense). This part is optional; I did not do it for my costume because I thought it would be too warm outside, but if you want authenticity then this step
The excitement of Halloween overwhelms me every year. The haunted houses, the scary movies, and the costumes inspire me to express my inner creativity. However, I am not one to spend a lot of money on a costume that I will only wear once. To create an inexpensive costume, I rely on items I already own in my closet and add some special details to make it unique.
What you need:
* Cardboard box big enough to fit over your body (I used an Amazon Box)
* Scissors
* White duck tape
* Black duck tape
* Red markers
* Clear packing tape
Step 1: Cut out the top of the box so it is open in the front. You have now created a cardboard costume! Your head should fit right through the top. Then cut out holes for your arms. If your box isn’t big enough, use another cardboard box or tuck in your legs so they are hidden inside the costume.
Step 2: Cut white strips of duck tape and wrap it around the cardboard box to create a base color for your costume. If you have black or red duck tape, you can use this as well!
Step 3: Step 3 is where you get to use your imagination! Use

I was inspired by the new show “Among Us” which has been one of the most popular games recently. In this game, players work together on a spaceship. However, there are imposters on board who try to kill the crewmates without being caught. Imposters look exactly like crewmates and players will have to determine who is an imposter based on their actions.
To make your costume, you can simply find a white shirt and white pants (preferably sweatpants) and glue pink, blue, green, orange, red felt to them as shown in the pictures below. You can also use felt to create a paper clip badge as well as gloves if necessary. If you do not have any felt at home, you can use red paper instead and cut out circles as shown below in the picture of my costume!
