There are two main aspects to the costume: how it looks and how you feel in it. A lot of people dress to impress, some dress to feel good, and others like to wear something unique or different. Whatever your reason, choosing the right costume is a crucial part of any event.
The first thing you need to decide is what event you will be attending: a wedding, a corporate ball, a fancy dress party etc.
At a wedding you want to look your best without outshining the bride or groom. A good rule of thumb is to avoid white or cream fabrics for women, and avoid wearing black unless it’s an evening wedding.
For men, suits are usually appropriate for weddings but make sure you choose one that fits well and won’t crease easily (or have an emergency iron!). Alternatively, women can wear dresses and men can wear slacks with a shirt and tie. Remember that if the wedding is in summer you will probably perspire quite a bit in a suit so make sure you choose fabrics that breathe well such as cotton or linen.
