“The Harley Quinn costume has been selling like crazy,” said Jonathan Weeks, co-owner of Costumeish.com. “We’re selling about 40 Harleys a day, which is double what Wonder Woman and Supergirl are selling.”
So why is the Harley Quinn costume so popular? For one thing, the character is not just a rehashing of a superhero that’s been done before. Instead, she’s a nurturing villain who flips between good and evil with surprising ease. The character also seems to be luring in both men and women for this Halloween season.
“Women want to be her because she is fun,” Weeks said. “Men want their girlfriends to be her because they know that deep down inside they are a little bit naughty.”
I can’t think of a movie character that I like more than Harley Quinn. Her antics, her style, and her love for the Joker make me love her so much. When I heard she was going to be in Suicide Squad I immediately asked my boyfriend to take me to go see it opening weekend.

A spokeswoman says the company has sold more than 15,000 Harley Quinn costumes for adults and nearly 8,000 for kids since last Halloween. It has sold more than 5,700 Joker costumes for adults and nearly 6,000 for kids. Both figures include sales since June 1 from both websites and brick-and-mortar stores.
The 2016 Halloween season has been a banner time for DC Comics and its supervillain turned antihero Harley Quinn. Margot Robbie’s portrayal of the character in Suicide Squad was a smash hit, and her performance was widely praised.
While the movie as a whole didn’t quite live up to expectations, it still grossed over $745 million worldwide. And Harley Quinn seems set to make a return for Suicide Squad 2 and the upcoming Gotham City Sirens with Robbie reprising the role.
