The first time I tried to wear this thing was at my sister’s graduation party, and it was a total disaster. It didn’t fit properly and when I tried to talk all anyone could hear was muffled noises. My sister said she felt embarrassed for me, and my mother actually cried because she thought I was making fun of her cooking!

Needless to say, I never wore the banana costume again until last year when my son turned five years old. He loves bananas and he loved the costume, but we had a similar problem. We couldn’t understand each other when I had it on, so we ended up taking it off after 20 minutes or so.

The banana costume is still in our closet because I can’t seem to get rid of it. But now I have a plan: Next Halloween, I’m going

Here are the three steps needed to make your own banana costume.

1. Get a yellow T-shirt.

2. Get yellow tights or sweatpants and attach them to the top of the shirt using safety pins to make the banana peel trousers.

3. Cut out two strips of white paper for eyes and attach them with tape to the middle of your forehead, making sure they don’t fall down!

That’s all there is to it! Simple, right? The Banana Costume will not only get you laughs, but it will also be an unforgettable experience for you and your friends when you wear this funny outfit.

A banana costume is a garment that covers the entire body and is shaped like a real, full-sized banana. This costume can be used for Halloween, pranks, and parties.

Materials Needed

-long yellow T-shirt with no print (XL or XXL)

-two large pieces of yellow felt (large enough to cover the area of the shirt that will be cut out, at least 12 in by 12 in)

-matching thread

-sewing machine

-flathead screwdriver or other small metal tool with a flat end (for poking holes in felt)

-large safety pin

-needle and thread

Step 1: Lay the shirt out flat on a table so it looks like an oval. Cut out the bottom quarter of the shirt along the length of it. When you are done, it should look like a banana peel. Set the section you just cut off aside for later.

Step 2: Turn your attention to the top part of the shirt that is still connected to the bottom part. At this point, you have an oval-shaped piece of fabric with sleeves. Fold it in half along its length so that both sleeves are lined up on top of each other.

When I was growing up, my house was full of hidden cameras.

This was back in the 1980s and early 1990s, when wireless video transmitters were massive and expensive. My dad would take one home from work and hide it somewhere in the kitchen or living room of our suburban Detroit house, then he would sit in his upstairs den, with headphones on and the monitor on his lap.

I’m pretty sure my mom knew about it. It’s hard to hide a top-secret surveillance operation from your wife when you have a 6-year-old son who likes to tell her about it. But she always played along.

In fact, one year she told me that Santa Claus was going to be filming us for TV. I turned around and saw a video camera sitting on its tripod in the middle of our living room. I kept waiting for it to move or swivel or somehow acknowledge that I’d seen it, but it never did. It just stayed there, staring at me while I opened my presents.

It wasn’t until years later that I realized we had no TV at the time.
