You want to dress for a Renaissance festival, but you just don’t know what to wear. You want to fit in and look the part, but you don’t want to break the bank buying a costume. You can make a great outfit that is perfect for the average Ren fest without breaking the bank. The key is to start with versatile pieces that are easy to find second-hand, and then add in a few special touches to make it your own.

First things first: you need a good solid pair of pants or leggings. You don’t have to go out and buy leather breeches if you don’t want to. Leggings are fine, and if they are black or dark blue, they will work well under any kind of skirt in case the weather turns cool. Black boots are also a must-have item, even if they are not historically accurate. Trust me; you will never regret owning a comfortable pair of black boots.

Next, get yourself a plain white t-shirt or peasant blouse from the thrift store or your local Walmart. A plain white cotton shirt is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you can own for Ren fests because it goes with any skirt, any color

There are several styles of elves–wood elves, dark elves, high elves, forest elves, desert elves–just to name a few. The most popular style is high fantasy elf. High fantasy elves tend to be fair haired with pointed ears and can be male or female. They are often seen carrying bows and arrows.

It’s that time of year again! Renaissance Festivals are popping up all over the country! Here are few tips to keep you looking authentic at your local festival.

Accessories

The key to accessorizing a Renaissance Festival outfit is not to go overboard. Choose one or two pieces that compliment your costume and stick with them. A simple necklace with a unique pendant or a beautiful brooch can take an outfit from drab to fab in no time. For men, try a leather belt with an embossed pattern or a large ring.

The Renaissance Festival is a place for men and women to get away from their day-to-day lives, and to become someone else for the day. The costumes are what make this possible. A good Renaissance costume can transform you into a lady, a gentleman, a pirate, a noble or even an elf. The elven costume is one of the most popular costumes worn at the Renaissance Festival. If you want to dress as an elf, there are various types of elf costumes that you can choose from.

Male Elven Costume

The male elven costume consists of loose velvet pants and boots. The pants either lace up the sides or they have buckles on them. Over the pants, an elven man will wear a tunic (a long shirt) that has long sleeves and ties in front with either ribbons or shoelaces. The tunic should be made out of velvet or satin and it should have intricate designs woven into it with gold thread. An elven man will also wear a large sash in which he can keep his money, extra weapons and other items he may need during the day.

If you’re not familiar with Renaissance Festivals, they are a gathering at which a group of people come together to recreate life in the Middle Ages. If you have ever been to one, then you know that there are some people who take their costumes very seriously. You can either be one of those people or be the person who shows up in shorts and a t-shirt that says “I’m With Stupid”

If you are going to dress up for the Renaissance Festival, then the first thing you need is proper footwear. It is recommended that you get some boots, however they can be expensive. If you can’t afford boots, wearing a pair of sneakers or sandals will work.

The next thing you need is pants. Remember that it’s HOT out here! I recommend wearing jeans since they’re more durable than khakis. Of course if your budget allows for it, leather pants are always nice – but please do not wear spandex! The last thing we need are guys running around pretending to be superheroes…

You should also wear a shirt (preferably one made of cotton) and a vest or jacket over top of that. Make sure to layer your clothing so if it gets too hot, you can remove them without looking like a slob
