But if you can’t get your hands on one of those coveted tickets, then here’s the next best thing: dressing up like Willy Wonka for Halloween! While many people mimic Johnny Depp’s portrayal of the eccentric candy man, there’s something about Gene Wilder in the 1971 version that is simply magical. Buy the costume or make your own. You can use an old suit, or buy a purple or burgundy suit, vest and pants that fit properly and are flattering to your figure. Wear white gloves with the suit, if you prefer. You can also purchase a homemade Willy Wonka costume online.

I didn’t know how to dress like Willy Wonka for Halloween until this year. I knew I wanted to be him after watching the new movie, but I didn’t know where to start. You could also buy this one and add some purple thread or just wear it as-is. Either hat looks great!

You can find a purple velvet blazer at any thrift store or consignment shop. Look around online too – there are some really unique ones out there like this one and this one that might be worth checking out if you don’t mind spending a little extra money on your costume!

The Willy Wonka costume is a fun and easy costume to wear for Halloween, or even just for fun. You can find many of the items that you will need for this costume on your own or at an affordable price. If you are lucky you may even already have some of these items in your closet!

The main item that you will need to make this costume is a purple velvet style jacket. This jacket can be short sleeved, three-quarter sleeved, or long sleeved. It is really up to you and what type of jacket you want to wear. If it is cold where you live this Halloween then a long sleeved jacket would be a good choice to go with as it will keep you warm at night.

If you’re going to be dressing up as Willy Wonka for Halloween, you’ll want to keep in mind that this is a costume that requires a lot of attention to detail. There are several ways to dress like Willy Wonka, but the most accurate way is to put together the costume using some or all of the following:

• A purple jacket with tails

• A vest with a high collar

• A white shirt. Ideally, you’d want a ruffled shirt that looks somewhat similar to what Gene Wilder wore in the original film.

Halloween is a magical time of year, and what could be more magical than dressing up like the Candy Man himself? Willy Wonka! This year I decided to go as everyone’s favorite candy maker. I want to share with you my secret on how I made my costume for Halloween.

The first step in creating your Willy Wonka costume is to buy or create a purple or green velvet jacket. You can find a used purple velvet jacket at a thrift store, or make one yourself by sewing together cheap velvet fabric. Make sure you are wearing this jacket with a white button-up shirt underneath. Next, add an orange tie, like this one from Amazon (although if you have an orange tie already, you can just use that).

Next, grab your top hat and add a Wonka bar sticker to it. It’s not clear what color hat Willy Wonka wears on the movie poster, but I chose a black top hat since he wears black pants. I was able to find a sticker of a wonka bar at my local party supply store, but you can also make one yourself by printing out this picture of the Wonka bar and then cutting it out and applying it to your hat.
