I have always been a fan of the Friday The 13th movie series and I thought it would be fun to make my own Jason Voorhees costume, but there was a problem. Most of the costumes you can buy were really bad quality. So I decided to make my own!
I started by doing a ton of research on all of the previous movies and tried to figure out what looked best for a costume. I decided that the hockey mask from Part 3 was the best looking one, so I decided to build my costume around that.

Welcome to my site on how to make a Jason Voorhees costume. I have been trying to make this costume for over a year now and I am still not done. Why you ask? Because it is hard to find some parts and the other part is that I am very picky about how I want it to look. I do not want it to just look like someone bought a hockey mask and threw on some overalls.
After searching for months, which included trips all over the place, I finally found the hockey mask which I will tell you about in the next page.
It took me awhile but I finally got all of the stuff that I need together so now it’s time to work on making the costume.

As you probably know, Jason Voorhees is the main character from “Friday The 13th”. He is the man in the hockey mask. He has murdered hundreds of people at Camp Crystal Lake and has been played by several different actors. If you want to dress up like Jason on Halloween or to a party, here is how.
The first thing you need to do is pick out a Jason look-alike mask. You can find these at costume shops, online or even make your own if you are handy with a needle and thread or know how to sculpt clay. You will also need dark clothing, preferably dark blue jeans and a black turtleneck long-sleeved sweater. You will also need a large, dulled machete or axe that can be bought at most hardware stores for about $10-$15.
Jason’s costume changes slightly from movie to movie but basically he always wears dark clothing and carries an axe/machete so this is all you really need to get his look. If possible, wear all black shoes or boots with no laces. Looking disheveled will help add realism to the costume so don’t wear anything too brand new or clean looking.
