Re-create the iconic Morticia Addams look from the TV show The Adams Family with this easy-to-make costume. It’s inexpensive and can be made in just a couple of hours. You’ll need:

* Black fabric — this can be cotton, rayon or even a knit. Anything that will drape nicely. For an adult costume you’ll probably need around 5 yards; for a child costume, about half that

* Black thread

* Scissors

* Sewing machine (not necessary but will speed things up considerably)

* Needle and thread

* Safety pins

* Black lipstick

* Black nail polish

To make the dress: Start by cutting two long rectangles from your fabric. They should both be as wide as the hips are round. Stretch one rectangle around your hips and pin it in place to mark the length for the front of the skirt. Repeat for the back of the skirt, making sure to add some extra length so it will hang over your heels when you walk. Remove rectangles from body and lay them side-by-side on a flat surface to make sure they are even lengths and widths. Using safety pins, pin each piece together along the sides so you

[Morticia Addams Costume]

[Materials Needed:]

Black dress.

Black shoes.

White makeup.

Black lipstick.

Fake nails.

Fake blood.

[How-To:]

1) Apply white makeup all over your face, neck and hands. You can also apply it to your arms if you wish.

2) Use the black lipstick to draw a line around your lips so they look bigger than they really are. Make sure that you do not put on too much lipstick or it will bleed into the white makeup and make it look messy. You can also use red instead of black if you want, but we find that black looks better with a white base. If you don’t want to use either color, then just leave the lips alone or paint them with a matching lipstick color for your skin tone such as nude or light pink.

3) Apply fake blood around the mouth area so it looks like Morticia has been biting people lately…or maybe she just ate something that didn’t agree with her! If possible try to make sure that some of the blood gets on her teeth too because this will add authenticity to your costume even more than just having it around the mouth area alone does! Just make sure not to get

Morticia Addams is a very iconic character to dress up as for Halloween. I’ve seen several costumes on the internet that cost upwards of $100. Here’s a way to make your own inexpensive Morticia costume from things you can buy at thrift stores.

Materials:

1 black long sleeve sweater

1 black skirt (black leggings or tights)

2 pair of black shoes (one pair for the feet and one pair for the hands)

1 pair of thigh highs with a seam up the back

black gloves

long black wig with hair off the face (I had to use 2 wigs, because one didn’t provide enough length or volume. You may get away with just one.)

dark purple eyeshadow and black eyeliner (for your eyes)

dark red lipstick and lip liner (for your lips)

Materials:

-Black dress (I found mine at Goodwill for $12)

-Black hat ($5 at the Halloween store)

-Black gloves (I used ones I had but you could find some at a Halloween store)

-Long black wig (I had one from a previous costume but you can get one online for about $20)

-Black shoes or boots that go with your dress

How-To:

1. Put on your dress, hat, and wig. Pull the wig down over your forehead, so that it covers your eyebrows. If you don’t have a wig, backcomb your hair and slick it back into a bun on the back of your head.

2. Apply dark (black or dark brown) eyeshadow above and below your eyes. Smudge it and blend it outwards until the line between skin and eyeshadow is blurred. Use eyebrow pencil to draw arched eyebrows that are slightly longer than yours. Apply black eyeliner along the upper lash line of both eyes, then use an angled brush to apply black eyeshadow along the outer half of the lower lash lines on both eyes. Again, smudge this outwards so there is no sharp line between skin and shadow. Curl lashes and

First of all, what you’re going to need:

Black dress, preferably long and draping, but can be a shorter dress or even a blouse with a long skirt.

Black wig (if you don’t have black hair, this will really help)

Black eye liner and mascara (if you don’t have naturally long eyelashes)

Red lipstick (the brighter the better!)

A black shawl or cape, if you aren’t wearing a long dress.

Now for the process:

If you don’t have long black hair and are using a wig, put that on first. If your hair is already black and long enough to be Morticia’s, then use eye liner to darken your eyebrows so they match the hair. Put on the red lipstick and go over your lips with it at least twice to make it as bright as possible. Now for the eyes—use lots of black mascara to darken and lengthen the lashes. Be sure to do this carefully so that you don’t get any in your eyes! Finally put on the dress and shawl/cape. If you are wearing a short dress or skirt then add some extra length by wearing fishnet stockings underneath them
