How to Measure Your Body for a Pumpkin Suit

When ordering a Pumpkin Suit, it is important to know your height and waist measurements. This will ensure that you get the right size. To measure your body for a pumpkin suit:

Start by measuring your height with a tape measurer. Stand in your stocking feet and measure from the floor to the top of your head.

Next, measure yourself around the waist. Place the tape measure around your navel and make sure it is level all around. Do not suck in your gut or let out too much air when measuring yourself for clothing. If you are unsure or in between sizes, order the larger size.

Finally, check and confirm your measurements.

To make a pumpkin suit, you need to measure your body. Measure the height of your body from the top of your head to the floor. Measure around the widest part of your chest and around your waist. These measurements will give you an idea of how much fabric you need and how long the elastic will have to be.

Pumpkin suits are designed to be oversized so that the wearer can appear to be a pumpkin, but if you want to look more like a non-humanoid pumpkin, it is important that you take accurate measurements. You may also need to make alterations for special effects such as tentacles.

To measure your chest, wrap the measuring tape around your back and under your arms. The tape should just touch the front of your body without being stretched.

To measure your waist, wrap the measuring tape around the narrowest part of your torso at belly button level. If you’re having trouble finding it, find the bottom edge of your rib cage and then move down two inches.

To measure your hips, wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your pelvis. If you’re not sure where this is, it’s where the top of your legs meet your torso.

If you would like to add tentacles or other appendages to your pumpkin suit, make sure that you adjust these measurements accordingly before ordering a costume.

Instructions

1. Measure from the neckline to the waistline, and from the waistline to the bottom hem. This will give you an idea of how long of a costume you’ll need to make.

2. Measure the circumference around your chest, your waist and your hips. This will give you an idea of how much fabric you’ll need to sew together to make the costume. You can also use these measurements to find a pre-made suit that fits your body type.

3. Measure around your head and neck or figure out how many feet of elastic or ribbon you’ll need to secure the hood around your head.

4. Use a pumpkin as a guide for designing the shape of your costume and estimating how much fabric you’ll need for it

5. Draw out a design for your costume on paper before creating it on fabric so that you can make changes and alterations before it’s too late

6. Use a pencil or chalk to trace out the shape of a pumpkin onto a piece of paper, then cut it out with scissors. Lay this template over another piece of paper and trace its outline, then add extra inches — about 8 inches in length and girth — for seam allowances and extra fabric later on.
