My Harry Potter Halloween Costume Become a Reality

I have been a huge Harry Potter fan since the first book was released. I’ve also been a fan of Halloween. So, what better way to combine my two loves than to try to create my very own hermione granger costume for Halloween? I’ve always loved her character and I thought that it would be fun to try and make a half decent costume.

The costume was made from items from various stores including:

-Glasses from Amazon.com

-Skirt from Target

-Shirt from Sears

-Tights from Walmart

-Hair styled with bobby pins and hairspray

-Wand hand crafted by me (instructions on this will soon be added to my blog)

I also made a hermione granger inspired makeup look that can be found here:https://sites.google.com/site/hermionecostumemakeup/home

It’s Halloween season, and with that comes the excitement of wearing a costume. This year, I decided to wear a Hermione Granger costume, and below is how I created it.

I have always loved Halloween; first off, because it gives me an excuse to dress up as someone else. Second, I love the fact that another human being can recognize you as someone from their favorite movie or book. And lastly, it’s just a fun way of meeting new people!

On my Harry Potter Adventure:

This summer I visited Universal Studios Orlando for the first time and was able to go on the Harry Potter ride (which was amazing), but at the same time I realized that there is a whole other world beyond the movies and books. Seeing all of the Harry Potter shops and restaurants made me want to be more involved in this magical world.

So this year when deciding what costume to wear for Halloween, I figured why not become my favorite character from one of my favorite books? That character is Hermione Granger!

How I came up with my hermione costume:

I’ve never been a big fan of going out and buying a pre-made costume. In high school, my parents would purchase

Making your own Hermione Granger Costume:

I had been working on my Hermione Granger costume for a while, but now that I had tickets to go to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 in full costume, I was on a deadline!

In 2006, my boyfriend and I decided to go to the Halloween party together. Harry Potter was our mutual favorite book series, so we decided to dress up in the costumes of our favorite characters. I chose Hermione Granger, Hermione’s parent’s had died when she was young, but she was still very much alive. I had no idea how to create a costume that would represent her as a real person, as opposed to a cartoon.

I wanted to be able to look like myself, but without revealing my identity. The main reason I didn’t want to use a mask was because it would have been too hot and I’m not good at keeping my face still for long periods of time. My other concern was that the mask would make me look like a clown or something equally ridiculous. This is why I decided to go with a wig instead of a mask. My next decision was what kind of wig to use, since I don’t have curly hair naturally, it seemed like an obvious choice.

I searched around on eBay for wigs that looked similar to Hermione Granger’s hair from the movies, but none of them were quite right for me. Most of them were either too short, or too long and curly for my taste. After spending hours searching for the perfect wig

I am so excited to share with you my Harry Potter Halloween costume! I have had this costume in mind for almost a year. I have put a lot of time, research and work into creating this costume.

I hope you love it as much as I do!

For a little bit of backstory, my father passed away when I was seven years old. He was such a huge influence in my life, and loved Harry Potter just as much as me. It was very disappointing that he would not be able to see me one day dress up as his favorite character from the movies. Being able to create this costume and share it with my dad’s friends who are also huge fans of Harry Potter has been such an honor. It is such a wonderful feeling when people tell me how detailed the costume is, or even recognize me from the movies!

I recently finished reading the Harry Potter series, and while I was reading I began to think of costume ideas. Originally I wanted to be a Death Eater but I was not sure how to do that, so I decided to go a different route. Why not be Hermione Granger?

I had been looking online for some ideas on what type of skirt she wears and what colors are appropriate for her costume. I found several different types of skirts that she wears in the movies. All of them are pretty much the same length and are long sleeved shirts with collars. I decided that I would use my own shirt and just buy a skirt from someone else or make one myself.

I was in luck because I have a friend who has an Etsy store called “Hermione’s Closet” where she sells handmade items for Harry Potter themed parties. She had exactly what I needed! She sells a skirt that looks very similar to Hermione’s and it is even made out of the same fabric as her costume! It was perfect!

The only problem was that it was way too big for me! It is a size large but it still felt like wearing pajamas all day long when trying it on with tights underneath. So after trying on several other skirts (all which

I often find myself wanting to dress up as Hermione, and I always assume it will be easy because all I need is some thick-rimmed glasses. However, this is not entirely true – I am a blonde, and Hermione is not.

So how do you go about becoming Hermione Granger for Halloween?
