It’s Halloween again. I’ve got a cool shark costume for my son. I’m sure it’ll be a hit at the Halloween party as we’ve already had so many compliments about it.
My son wanted to be a shark, and it worked out perfectly as we have a lot of grey and blue clothes in his dresser. I started with a pair of sweatshirt pants, which I cut off the bottoms and made them into shorts. The hoodie was then cut up to make the dorsal fin on top of the shark’s back. I also made the tail out of felt. It was really easy; you just cut out two pieces of felt in the shape of a triangle and then sew them together (with right sides together). Turn it right side out, iron it flat and you’re done!
I sewed the fin onto the hoodie and hand stitched the mouth around my son’s chest area onto a grey t-shirt that he already owned.
I added some cardboard inside the fin to give it extra height and help it stand up straight. For his feet, he wore some blue socks that were leftover from when he was born. They were huge!
