NASA is looking for Astronaut Candidates.
Space Travel Is Coming! NASA is looking for astronaut candidates from a diverse pool of scientist-astronauts who will launch into space from American soil on spacecraft built by commercial companies. Our astronauts will conduct experiments and research, dock with the International Space Station and explore deep space on missions to the Moon and Mars.
NASA officials will hold media teleconferences beginning at 1 p.m. EDT Wednesday, Dec. 11, to discuss the next phase of the agency’s ongoing journey to Mars and announce the agency’s newest class of astronaut candidates. The news conference participants are:
– Robert Lightfoot, NASA Acting Administrator
– Janet Kavandi, director, Flight Crew Operations at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston
– Brian Kelly, director, Flight Operations at Johnson
– Kay Hire, a former astronaut now serving as chief of the Astronaut Office at Johnson

NASA is accepting applications for the next class of astronaut candidates. The application period closes on February 18, 2021.
Are you ready to explore strange new worlds? NASA is looking for a few good men and women — again! The space agency will accept applications through Feb. 18, 2021, to fill a new class of astronauts.
Requirements are straightforward: You must be a U.S. citizen with a master’s degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) from an accredited institution and at least two years of relevant experience — or a medical degree plus 1,000 hours as a pilot in command of a jet aircraft.
Those who make the cut will be eligible to fly on any of four different American vehicles: the International Space Station, two commercial crew spacecraft currently in development by SpaceX and Boeing, and NASA’s Orion deep-space exploration vehicle.

NASA is looking for Astronaut candidates to help the agency explore the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
Applications open Dec. 14 and close at 11:59 p.m. EST on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019.
NASA is looking for a diverse pool of highly motivated, top-performing applicants with a wide variety of backgrounds ranging from scientists and engineers to medical doctors and teachers.
The space agency will select a diverse group of individuals from many backgrounds to be trained as astronaut candidates and prepare for NASA’s Artemis missions to the Moon and eventual human exploration of Mars.
“This next group of American space explorers will inspire the Mars generation to reach for new heights, and help us realize the goal of putting boot prints on the Red Planet,” said NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine. “Those selected for this service will fly on American-made spacecraft from American soil, advance critical science and research aboard the International Space Station, and help push the boundaries of technology in the proving ground of deep space.”

NASA announced yesterday that they will be taking applications for astronaut candidates from December 14th-February 18th. This is the first time they have taken applications since 2011. If you are selected you must pass a rigorous training program and could possibly be flying on a commercial rocket or even the International Space Station within 2 years.
To apply you will need a bachelors degree in engineering, science or math, 3 years of experience as an engineer, scientist or pilot (1000 hours of flight experience) and 20/20 vision in both eyes or correctable vision to 20/20 in each eye.
In my opinion space travel is going to be the next great frontier for humans. NASA is planning on building a base on Mars by 2030 and then sending humans there by 2040. I think it’s really cool that we are at the point now where we can send people to another planet and start colonizing it. Also private companies like SpaceX are working on reusable rockets which could reduce the cost of space travel dramatically.

Astronaut Costume is a site that is focused on one thing: The astronaut costume. This is the costume that is worn by people who are going to travel in space. The astronaut costume also called a spacesuit or a space suit is a garment as well as a piece of equipment that protects the wearer against the hostile environment of outer space, vacuum and temperature extremes. It also helps to maintain the atmosphere inside the suit. The astronaut costume is used after launch and during extra-vehicular activity (EVA), work done outside spacecraft. We have plenty of other articles here on our website that focus on different pieces of equipment and supplies that are used by astronauts in space.
Astronaut costumes are usually worn inside spacecraft as a backup in case of loss of cabin pressure, and are necessary for extra-vehicular activity (EVA). In these cases, most astronauts wear NASA suits; however, some Russian cosmonauts wear Orlan suits, while Chinese taikonauts wear Feitian suits. These costumes vary considerably in their capabilities and limitations
