Wade Wilson was born in Canada in 1973. He grew up with an abusive father and tried to commit suicide at an early age. Wilson soon joined the Canadian Army Special Forces and became a member of Team X, which was run by William Stryker. After leaving Team X, he became a mercenary for hire and developed cancer as a result of his lifestyle. He then volunteered to be in the Weapon X program and received a healing factor to cure his form of cancer, but this left him with disfiguring scars all over his body. The disfigurement left him mentally unstable and he soon adopted the name Deadpool.
