The Cost of Shipping Your Costume is More Than You Think

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed when I looked at the price for shipping my costume from the manufacturer to me. I had always assumed that the cost of shipping something so large would be proportionate to its volume. So, why would an object that is 2 feet x 3 feet x 1.5 feet cost as much (or more) than a box that is 12 inches by 12 inches by 12 inches?

I decided to investigate further and see if there was some special reason why my costume would cost so much to ship. After all, it’s only a few pieces of cloth and foam with wires sewn inside them.

When I started looking into the costs associated with shipping packages, I realized that there were actually many hidden costs involved in shipping any package. It turns out that even though the actual item may be very light, there are many other costs associated with getting the item from point A to point B.

In this article we’ll discuss some of the hidden costs of shipping, and how these can affect your decision on what costume you should choose.

I have been EXTREMELY busy lately with work, so I haven’t had time to post about anything interesting. I did, however, want to take a moment to share with you all a little insight into the cost of shipping your costumes.

I was recently asked by someone in Australia if I could make them a costume for a show they were doing for their church. They wanted it for a good price and would pay for shipping. I gave this person my best price and said that shipping would be an additional $50. They then proceeded to tell me how much it costs to ship something from the US to Australia and that I should just pay for it since they were giving me business.

I thought long and hard about this situation because I didn’t want to lose a customer, but at the same time I knew they were just trying to take advantage of me. In the end, we parted ways and are no longer working together on this project. While it was upsetting that I lost someone who wanted me to make them something (which doesn’t happen very often), I have no regrets about what happened because of some very important things that I learned from this experience:

Have you ever wanted to dress up as your favourite cartoon character to wear to a convention? Or have you found the perfect mascot costume for your school’s football team? Maybe you just wanted to dress up like your favourite superhero. Whatever the case, it is important to find out all the costs associated with shipping your costume before you put your order in.

The biggest cost can be shipping itself. If you are ordering a costume that is large and bulky, shipping can be very expensive. This is especially true if you are ordering from an overseas manufacturer and having it shipped across international borders.

If this is the case for you, here are some tips on how to save some money:

1. Order early: If you order early enough, you might be able to get deals from courier companies. They might offer lower rates if you give them a couple of months notice. Check with the manufacturers and see if they have any deals with local couriers that might help save you some money!

2. Buy in bulk: If there are multiple people who want the same costume, or if there will be multiple costumes needed for future events, try seeing if there is a bulk discount available on shipping costs. Many courier companies will offer discounts on shipments of more than one package.

If you love Halloween as much as I do and you’re planning on wearing your costume to a party or two, chances are you’ve already thought about how you’re going to get your costume to the actual party.

If it’s a long way off, you’ll probably plan on shipping your costume to yourself, right? After all, shipping is the easiest way to get your costume there worry-free! But don’t put that costume in the box just yet!

Shipping is not always what it seems. In fact, most companies hide fees and fines they charge their customers. And while they may not seem like a lot at first, those prices can add up fast.

Here are some of the hidden costs of shipping:

I wanted to throw on a costume and go out with friends, but I didn’t have the materials or funds necessary to do so. Just when I thought I had everything, I learned that I still needed to factor in shipping costs. It was a good lesson learned, but one that I think many people make.

I wanted to go as a scarecrow for Halloween. While it didn’t end up being the most original costume, it was cute and rustic, which is what I was going for.

I stocked up on straw at a local farm supply store and picked up a pair of denim overalls from Walmart for about $8. But in order to put the costume together, I needed to buy flannel pants, burlap fabric and rope to create suspenders.

I found all of these items online for a reasonable price and ordered them immediately. A few days later, the items arrived–but not without an additional cost.

The website had charged me an extra $23 for shipping and handling! The total cost of my costume ended up doubling because of shipping costs alone!
