In this blog I will be talking about why Jack Skellington is my favorite Halloween character, and how he is not to be underestimated.
Jack Skellington, also known as the Pumpkin King, is easily one of my favorite characters in all of Halloween Town. He is extremely smart, witty, charming, and a little too kind-hearted for his own good. Jack has more than once proven that he can make an amazing costume for a great price.
In the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), we see Jack Skellington showing off his latest design to his colleagues at his work place. It is a very simple costume but with a twist: it has an extra arm! We see him put on a simple orange gloves with fingers and hand attached to them, then he takes the extra hand and pushes it through the top of the glove. His co-workers all gasp in awe at the ingenuity of this idea! The scene ends with Jack saying “And now for something completely different,” as he puts on his costume, which looks exactly like himself except it has four arms instead of two.

Jack Skellington first made his appearance in 1993 in the animated film “The Nightmare Before Christmas” which was written and produced by Tim Burton who also happens to be a Disney animator. The film tells the story of Jack Skellington, a resident from “Halloween Town” who stumbles through a portal to “Christmas Town” and decides to celebrate the holiday, with some dastardly and comical consequences.

When it was first released, I recall many people of my generation were a little confused by the movie: Was it supposed to be scary? Was it supposed to be funny? Was it supposed to be a musical?
