On the other hand, if you would like to add a little bit more of that *special touch* to your costume, there are several websites out there which will allow you to design and customize your own Dr. Seuss Costume. If you would like to make your own Grinch outfit with just a few basic household items, I would suggest wearing all green clothes (pants, shirt and leggings) with a pair of green gloves and a green beanie hat. You can use some green felt to cut out a triangle shape for the hair on top of the hat, or use some fake fur instead. You can also draw on a large smile with black eyeliner or find a mask at the store which has the mouth already drawn on it. If you want to get really creative, try making your own mask by either painting onto paper mache or air drying clay!

Halloween is right around the corner and this year I’ve decided to go with a “Grinch” theme for our family party. I always like to try something new each year and being the grinch will be fun!
Here is a picture of my costume that I purchased from Target. It is simple, cheap, and easy to make!
I decided to use the Grinch theme because it is my favorite Christmas movie. It also gives me an excuse to wear green makeup on my face. The top of the costume has fur around the top part of the outfit which makes it look real!
I also bought some fake nails that are green with white stripes on them so when I put them over my fingers they look like claws! This makes it even more fun for kids who come over and see their mom dressed up as the grinch!
To make this costume even more fun, I bought some fake fur from Michael’s craft store and hot glued it onto a hat so now I can wear this adorable little hat while we trick-or-treat or just going out in public during Halloween time.”

1. The Grinch (the Jim Carrey version)
This year, 2010, the Grinch costume is going to be very popular. The movie, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” is a family favorite and many people have begun to realize that the Grinch is an ideal Halloween costume.
Why the Grinch?
There are several reasons why dressing up like the Grinch will be so popular this year. First of all, it’s easy. The costume is just green face paint, a Santa outfit and perhaps a few accessories such as a mop for hair. No sewing is required and you can put on your own makeup. You don’t even need to buy anything!
Another reason why the Grinch costume will be so popular this year is because it’s just so darn cute! You’ll see kids dressed up as the Grinch and adults too! It’s easy to see why this character from How the Grinch Stole Christmas is so beloved – he’s got that adorable dog Max, he has a heart that grows three sizes in one day and he learns the true meaning of Christmas.
This year we have seen an interesting trend in Halloween costumes. Last year, costumes were all about being sexy and revealing. This year, the trend has shifted a bit. We are seeing a lot of funny and creative costumes that are not necessarily revealing or sexy. We think it’s great!

Grinch Costume
How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a perfect theme for a kids’ Halloween party. The great thing about this costume is the possibility to make it yourself. This can save some money and be a fun project to do with the kids. The most important part of this costume is the green fur. You have a few options, you can use fabric paint or spray paint on your child’s clothing or you can cut up an old fur coat or use fake fur and sew it onto the clothes. If you plan to do this more than once it may be easier just to buy the fake fur and sew it on, otherwise for one time painting might suffice. For the headpiece you can get creative and make your own from cardboard, fabric, old hats etc. – anything that will cover the head and gives the effect of hair! Just so you know, this post is a little early. I usually start writing Halloween blog posts in September but I thought it would be best to get my 2017 Halloween Costume Guide out by August. You see, this year I am going to be the Grinch for Halloween and want to give you plenty of time to get your costume ready too.
