There is no question that the Disney movie The Little Mermaid is a classic. It’s the story of how a young, red-headed mermaid saves her father’s kingdom only to end up with a pair of human legs and live happily ever after. So many girls have grown up dreaming of being Princess Ariel. In fact, women still dream of being this mermaid princess. One woman was so inspired by Ariel that she had an elaborate photoshoot done in her costume. And if you think she looks like an exact copy of the cartoon character, there’s a good reason for that: She is a cosplayer who makes her living dressing up as fictional characters.

Who looks more like a Disney princess, Princess Ariel or her pregnant copier? The answer to that first question, by the way, is neither. They both look equally gorgeous in it.
This week, we’re all about Disney princesses and the pregnant ladies who love their dresses. But this time around, we’re not just talking about any pregnant ladies who love their dresses. We’re talking about the pregnant ladies who love their dresses so much they want to copy them! And then pose for pictures next to the people who are wearing the same dress.
Who looks more like a Disney princess than Ariel’s pregnant copier? Well, seeing as how she copied Ariel’s dress… probably Ariel. She also has red hair and a giant grin on her face, but chances are she doesn’t have gills and fins. On top of that, her hair is kind of frizzy and tangled, whereas Ariel’s is shiny and smooth. But hey, who cares about looks when you get to wear a beautiful dress with sparkly green sequins?

The lady in the photo, who works at the Avon and Somerset Police Department in Bristol, United Kingdom, is reportedly six months pregnant.
She was not aware of the Disney character’s fashion choices until she was tagged in the picture on Facebook. “I was looking through my pictures from our holiday and noticed that my uniformed colleague had previously worn the same outfit as Ariel,” she said. “It made me laugh so I decided to share it with friends.”
The woman identified as “Pregnant Ariel” wrote that her friends found it hilarious and suggested she contact the department to see if they could do a re-creation. They did indeed go along with her idea, and thus we ended up with this hilarious side-by-side.
We’re not sure who wore it better, but we can definitely say that there will be no shortage of Ariel costumes this Halloween.

Meanwhile, the Little Mermaid cosplayer didn’t look as good in her dress because it wasn’t formfitting (we get it—she was probably wearing a mermaid tail underneath), and she skipped the heels (which, duh). But hey, at least she had the red lipstick thing down pat!

A pregnant woman in a police uniform is making the rounds on the internet after her husband posted an image of her in her Ariel costume on Reddit. The image of Ariel, who works for the police department in Austin, Texas, was posted by her husband with the caption “Who wore it better?”
Ariel was quick to respond to her husband’s original post. She wrote: “I’m not sure what I’m more upset about, that you posted this or that you didn’t choose me.” In an interview with BuzzFeed News, Ariel said she was “really excited” about being compared to Ariel from The Little Mermaid and that she had dressed up as the princess a few years ago.
This isn’t the only time someone has been compared to Disney’s little mermaid. Earlier this month, a man posted an image of his wife dressed as Ariel on Reddit with the caption “Who wore it better?” The post got over 4,000 comments and was even featured on the site’s front page. Ariel then responded to her husband’s post by posting an image of herself in a mermaid costume.
