After his introduction in Spider-Man 3, the Venom movie is finally coming out. There have been rumors of a possible Venom movie ever since Sony announced that they would be making their own Marvel movies, like Amazing Spider-Man 2, but it took them several years to get a project off the ground.

After various iterations, work on a new version began in March 2017 to start a new shared universe featuring the Marvel characters that the studio possessed film rights to. Hardy was cast that May and Williams joined the following month. The story of the film will be a bit different than in comics, because it won’t be based on famous comic book stories like “Lethal Protector” or “Planet of Symbiotes”. It is going to be an original storyline. According to Sony’s Amy Pascal, Venom’s story in the film will be based on two major comic book storylines: Lethal Protector and Planet of Symbiotes.
It also seems that Carnage won’t make an appearance in this movie. The studio has decided not to rush things, as they want to focus on giving Venom his time in the spotlight before moving onto other characters.
