Jason is the serial killer from the Friday the 13th film franchise. He has that scary hockey mask that instantly makes people recognize him. He is one of the most iconic horror movie villains ever. With his massive build and menacing machete, he has scared many people for many years. I will give you tips on how to make a jason costume that looks like it came right out of the movies.
The first thing you will want to get is the mask. There are plenty of different Jason masks out there, but I think you should go with his original hockey mask. I would recommend getting a plastic one and painting it white with black circles over the eyes. You might also want to paint some blood dripping down from your forehead.
Next, you will need a machete that you can carry around with you. You can use any old knife as long as it looks real enough to scare people around you. If you can get a little bit of fake blood on it, even better!
For clothing, Jason normally wears dark clothes with a little bit of brown leather covering up his body for protection. You could probably find something similar at any costume shop or even borrow something from one of your friends who has worn

It’s no secret that the Jason costume is one of the more iconic horror costumes out there. It’s easy to make and can be a great costume to scare people with! Here are some tips on how to make your own Jason costume.
Jason Mask- The mask is probably the most important part of making your jason costume. You will need a hockey mask, red and black paint, spray paint, and a red light. First spray paint the white mask black and let it dry. Once dried paint the ridges of the mask red so they pop out more when you put your lights on. Then use your red light to shine from behind the eye holes of your mask!
Jason Shirt- For his shirt you can either get a dark colored long sleeve shirt or use some dark colored fabric and make one for yourself. You should also add some fake blood stains to it as well as tatter it up a bit to give it a more used look!
Fake Machete- For his weapon in most of the movies he uses an axe but in Friday the 13th he uses a machete which is very simple and easy to find or even make yourself! Just search online for one or get some
There are two main parts to making Jason’s costume. The first part is the mask and the second part is the clothes. For the mask, you need a hockey mask which you can find at any sports store or even Walmart. However, you will have to do some work on it. First, spray paint it black. Then, use red spray paint to paint blood on the mask around the eyes and mouth. You can also get fake blood and dripping blood similar to what they use in horror movies to add more of a realistic effect.
For the clothes, you need blue jeans and a dark plaid shirt. Again, you can find this shirt at Walmart for about $15. If you want to look like Jason from the later movies, he wears those military pants that have pockets all over them. We found those at an army surplus store for about $30. To make his weapon, buy an axe from Walmart for about $20 and then spray paint it silver.
