Prisoners (2013) is an American thriller movie directed by Denis Villeneuve and stars Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis and Terrence Howard. Hugh Jackman plays Keller Dover and Jake Gyllenhaal plays Detective Loki. Keller Dover is the father of one of the kidnapped children. Detective Loki is the detective in charge of the kidnapping case.

When watching a movie, you may wonder how the costumes and make up were done for each character. Well, one of the movies that has caught my attention is prisoners. If you haven’t watched this movie, I suggest you do. The makeup is amazing and so is the costume design.

The makeup in this movie was done by Greg Cannom and his crew. One of the characters that really stood out was Alex Jones played by Paul Dano. He is one of the suspects in this movie who gets kidnapped and held captive by Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman). Alex has to be looking as dirty as possible while being held captive. This can be done by mixing different colors of powder to make him look dirty without it looking like an actual mask or costume.
In the movie Prisoners there are a couple of options for costumes. There is the classic prisoner look which consists of the orange jumpsuit and the black and white stripes. A more modern look is the bright pink jumpsuit but this is not as widely used as the classic look. Another option is to wear a prison guard outfit which consists of an all black suit with a black tie, or if you prefer you could dress as one of the other prisoners who were dressed in their normal clothes even though they were locked up in jail.

When Keller’s six year old daughter goes missing with her friend; Dover takes matters into his own hands when the police can’t find any leads to go on. Detective Loki (Gyllenhaal) has no suspect or motive but soon finds himself questioning the one person who may know where they are. Keller needs answers and he needs them now! He will do whatever it takes to get them as he holds Alex Jones (Paul Dano) captive in an abandoned building, torturing him for information that isn’t there.
The film is scary because it could happen to anyone! It’s a smart film that keeps you guessing until the end which leaves you feeling satisfied but scared at the same time.
