About CostumeMailer
Our Mission
CostumeMailer was founded with a simple yet powerful mission: to help costume lovers everywhere put together a great outfit, through approachable guidance and free tools that make figuring out sizing, estimating fabric, budgeting a build, and planning a rental clearer, more rewarding, and more practical.
We believe that everyone who dresses up, from first-time trick-or-treaters to seasoned cosplayers, deserves access to accurate tools, comprehensive resources, and trustworthy guidance. Our platform bridges the gap between a costume idea and a finished look: sizing and fit, fabric and materials, rentals and budgets, DIY and store-bought, group themes, makeup, and accessories.
Through our free collection of tools, we help makers and party-goers make informed decisions about costume sizing, how much fabric a garment needs, the total cost of a build, rental fees, and how long a DIY project will take. Every tool is designed with real-world applicability in mind, tested against the day-to-day realities of making and wearing costumes, and continuously improved based on user feedback. To go deeper, explore our Costumes & Masquerade museum, with galleries on folk and masquerade traditions, the silhouettes of historical dress, the characters of stage and cosplay, and the crafts behind every great costume.
Our Story
CostumeMailer emerged from a need we experienced firsthand. While trying to sort through conflicting advice and scattered references, we noticed a common challenge: the lack of accessible, accurate tools for the everyday decisions that come with planning a costume, running the numbers on a build, and making the most of every occasion.
Great costumes rely heavily on creativity and a little know-how, which are invaluable. However, a confident maker also benefits from clear answers about what size to order, how much fabric to buy, what a build will cost, how much a rental adds up to, and how many hours a DIY project needs. We saw an opportunity to combine well-researched costume knowledge with modern tools to help people make confident decisions about every outfit.
Our team began developing tools that we wished existed when we made our first big costumes. Each calculator and guide was created to solve real problems encountered when budgeting a build, comparing rentals, or sizing an outfit for someone else. We tested every tool against real-world numbers, refined the logic based on feedback, and ensured that the results reflected current, widely accepted costume-making practice.
Today, CostumeMailer serves active users worldwide, from first-time dressers-up to lifelong cosplay enthusiasts. Our tools have helped people size costumes, estimate fabric, budget builds, plan rentals, schedule DIY projects, and make more deliberate, confident costume decisions.
