What size fairy costume should I get?
The first thing to consider is the size of the person you are buying the fairy costume for. Most fairy costumes come in XS, S, M, L and XL sizes. The measurements listed with each costume will vary by manufacturer, but these measurements can be used as a guideline:
XS – Approximately 2-4 years old
S – Approximately 4-6 years old
M – Approximately 6-8 years old

With my daughter’s birthday coming up, I wanted to share a few tips on what to look for when picking out a fairy costume.
A fairy costume can be very simple and is often made from things you may already have around the house. It can be as simple as using some tulle fabric, ribbon and flowers. You don’t even need to buy a tutu if you don’t want to. Just tie strips of tulle around an existing skirt or dress and you can turn just about any skirt into a fairy tutu in less than 5 minutes.
I’ve made many fairy costumes over the years (for my daughter and for myself) and have found that the easiest way to find everything you need is to get a basic kit and then add your own touches to it. Here are two of my favorite kits:
