Dressing up like Harley Quinn? Here’s how to do the makeup

The first step in any Harley Quinn costume is the makeup. If you’re not into makeup, this isn’t necessarily going to be a fun project for you. But if you can get past that, here’s how to get started.

First, you’ll need some foundation, concealer and powder. The red and white face design is a bit tricky, so you want to make sure your skin looks nice first, so when you add the actual colors on top of it they show up well.

Next, you need to map out the design. This part can be pretty hard sometimes! I like using eyeliner for the white parts because it’s easier to do straight lines with that than it is with regular makeup (at least for me). You should check out some pictures of Harley Quinn costumes on Google images for references on how to draw it on yourself.

For the blue eyeshadow, I recommend a light blue shade from a palette like this one from Nyx Cosmetics: It has every shade of blue you could ever want! Plus all those other colors too — this palette has been my go-to for Halloween eye makeup for years and I still haven’t run out of ideas yet!

After that just fill in the rest of your face with black eyel

Prepare your face. Before applying any makeup, clean your face with a mild cleanser and gently exfoliate to remove dead skin cells. Allow your face to dry completely before proceeding with the rest of the makeup.

Applying foundation. Apply a semi-matte or matte-finish foundation in a shade just slightly lighter than your natural skin tone. The lighter tone will add some brightness to your face that can be lost under Halloween stage lighting. Powder and conceal as needed to even out skin tone and hide blemishes or dark circles under eyes.

Setting the stage for eye makeup. Now it’s time to set the stage for eye makeup by applying a neutral flesh color from lash line to brow bone. This will create a base for the dramatic eye makeup you’ll apply later in this tutorial. It also sets off the blush, making it pop more vividly on the skin.

Add some cheeky blush. Use a bright red blush on apples of cheeks and blend up toward temples for a fresh look that is still consistent with Quinn’s character in “Suicide Squad.”

Apply false eyelashes (optional). If you’re not comfortable with false eyelashes, skip this step and move on to eyeshadow application. Otherwise

Step 1: Base

Apply a white cream base all over your face. Add a black grease paint around the eyes and define the brows. Make sure to blend, blend, blend!

Step 2: Black

Using the black grease paint, start defining the shape of the brows and create a shape (you can go for a rounded look like Harley or do pointy brows). Use foundation/concealer to further define the shape of the brows. Then apply a white base under the eyes to make them look bigger and brighter.

Use black liquid liner to line both upper and lower lids, making sure to extend it out into a winged shape.

Step 3: Eyes

Lighten up your eyes with eyeshadows in red, gold, white and blue. The blue goes right under your brows and along your crease. The red goes on your lower lids followed by gold and white in the middle. Define your lower lashline with black eyeshadow or eyeliner. Fill in your waterline with white eyeliner pencil. Add tons of mascara (or false lashes) for that extra drama!

Step 4: Lips

Line your lips with red lipliner and fill it with red

Step 1: Prep your skin. Prep your skin with a makeup primer to give you a smooth base for applying your makeup and to help it last longer.

Step 2: Apply foundation. Use a foundation that matches your skin tone to cover up any blemishes, redness or uneven skin color. Use a foundation brush, sponge or your fingers to blend it into the neck and around the edges of the face.

Step 3: Conceal imperfections. Take a concealer that is one shade lighter than your foundation and place it on the inner corners of your eyes, under the eyes and on any blemishes. Blend with a brush until evenly distributed.

Step 4: Set it with powder. Take a translucent setting powder mixed with cornstarch and translucent powder to set the foundation and make it last all day long. Take a big fluffy brush and lightly dust all over the face, focusing on areas that are more oily such as the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin).

Step 5: Fill in eyebrows. Use a dark brown eyebrow pencil or pressed powder with an angled brow brush to fill in the shape of your eyebrows. Comb through them with a brow gel or clear mascara to keep them looking groomed all day long.

Step 6

Use a white makeup pencil liner (e.g. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk) to draw on the diamond shapes on your eyes and then fill them in with the same color. Use a black liquid liner to draw on the outline of the diamonds and draw one thick line starting from your tear duct extending outwards.

Use an eye shadow brush to apply a light blue shadow (e.g. Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Bordello) onto your lids and blend it outwards. Then, use a darker blue shade (e.g. Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Psychedelic Sister) to apply onto the outer corners of your eyes and blend it upwards towards your brow bone. Blend everything out with a clean blending brush so there’s no harsh lines visible.

Apply some dark brown eye shadow (e.g. Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Mushroom) onto your crease with a clean blending brush and blend it outwards, then use a black eye shadow (e.g. Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Blackout) and blend that into the crease as well to deepen it up a bit more, making sure to keep the center of your lids lighter than the rest of the eye makeup – you want them to be

To achieve a professional, zombie look, you need to start with your face. The first thing you need to do is apply a white foundation cream. You can either use liquid or powder, but cream is best. You’ll also need to use black eyeshadow, dark brown eyeliner and bright red lipstick if you want the full effect.

The next thing you need to do is draw cracks all over your face with the black eyeliner. This will make it look like your skin is peeling off! Use a small brush to blend in the lines and soften them up. Then apply some more of the white foundation cream on top of the cracks. This will give the effect of old skin underneath newer looking skin.

1. Take a small amount of Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer on your brush and dab it under your eyes. Blend it out with a beauty blender, then set the concealer with Anastasia Beverly Hills Banana Powder.

2. Take a white eyeliner pencil, like Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in “Crave” and draw a thick line around your eye—above your crease and below your bottom lash line.

3. Dab that same white eyeliner pencil all over your lid, from the lash line to the crease.

4. Use the same liner to draw a small heart in between your brows. Then use any matte black liner you have (I used Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in “Trooper”) to outline this heart and make it pop. Fill in the heart with the white liner you used earlier.

5. Create an upside down heart shape on your top lid by first drawing the point at your outer corner, then filling it in by drawing a line across to meet the inner corner of your eye and finally making a curve down toward your lashes at the center of your lid so that it looks like an upside down heart shape. This will be the
