Halloween is the one night in the year where you can dress up like a slut and act like a zombie while walking down the street eating candy. And while there will be some costumes that you have seen every year, it’s time to get creative and make a costume that stands out from the crowd. Halloween can be a fun and creative holiday for many people, but for some it’s stressful. If you’re like me and are at a loss for what to be every year, here is a list of Halloween costumes inspired by some of my favorite things from the past year! I’ll be adding to this list as I see new things.

1. Angelica Schuyler from Hamilton

Dress in period clothing that is either fancy or military style, depending on which version of Angelica you want to portray.

Bonus points if your Alexander Hamilton has a cane and sports their hair in the infamous George Washington braid.

2. Any character from Stranger Things

If you love the 80s and have an affinity for science fiction (as well as Eleven’s waffles), these costumes may be perfect for you! Wear an outfit inspired by any of the characters (Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Will, Lucas, Max, Joyce Byers, Jonathan Byers, Nancy Wheeler) and carry around a box of Eggos!

Halloween is right around the corner and if you’re anything like me, then you’ve been thinking about what to be for months now. Just kidding, I’m just lazy and haven’t even thought about it yet.

However, I’m a huge fan of video games so when I heard that the popular game Among Us was going to be available on Nintendo Switch this month, I knew I wanted to turn it into a Halloween costume somehow.

My husband and I decided we’d make him an astronaut costume and me an impostor costume. My first thought was to wear all black with a red beanie as the impostor, but then I saw this meme on Twitter:

While costumes can be purchased from popular stores like Target or Spirit Halloween, they can also be put together at home using items you already have. In honor of the spooky holiday coming up, here are some costume ideas that are inspired by references in today’s popular culture.

Among Us Crewmate

If you want to dress up as something cute and fun this Halloween season, this Among Us Crewmate costume is for you! Inspired by the popular game Among Us, this costume is simple to make and will have your friends dying with laughter. The game consists of different characters that players can choose from before each game. The goal of the game is to complete tasks around the spaceship while trying to identify who the impostor is before they eliminate all crewmates. This costume is perfect for any fan of the game who wants to represent their favorite character.

To start off this easy DIY project, you will need three main items: a white t-shirt, red sweatshirt or fabric paint, and a black marker. Using the marker, draw on two black dots where your eyes would be on the front of your white shirt as well
