The idea is that a good Michael Myers costume should not be limited to the design of the mask. It is also the whole atmosphere around it. Here are some suggestions for your own Michael Myers costume.
1) Start with the mask. The key to a good Michael Myers costume lies in the mask. The original mask used by Michael Myers was a white William Shatner’s “Star Trek” mask. The shape of the eyes and mouth add to the effect, and make it look creepy. You can get this mask from any fancy dress store, or online at Amazon or eBay for about $30.00, or if you want an authentic movie prop replica (as shown in this picture), you can purchase it at Trick or Treat Studios (Halloween Costume Masks) for about $60.00.
2) Get a coverall set of coveralls and a heavy jacket, like a farmer’s jacket or mechanic’s jacket so that you can wear it over your coveralls. Lightweight blue workman’s gloves will complete your outfit perfectly!
3) Carry some knives and other scary items, such as butcher knives and meat cleavers. Remember that Michael Myers is a butcher so these items will fit right in with your character!
4) Finally, don
Michael Myers is one of the most well-known characters in the horror movie genre. And, with movies being made about him almost every year, his costume remains popular. No matter which version of Michael Myers you want to be (the original or one from any of the sequels), you can make your own costume. The only thing you’ll need to do is figure out how to walk around with your head turned all the way around!
I love Halloween and I want to help you make the most of it. Now that I have kids, I’m always looking for family friendly ideas for decorations and costumes.
I’m a big fan of DIY costumes and homemade decorations so you’ll see lots of those ideas here. I also have many friends with special needs children who have trouble finding costumes that work well so you’ll see a lot of those ideas as well.
I’m not a costume designer but I’ve been able to come up with some ideas that work well and are easy to make. My goal is to give you all the steps needed to make your own costume without the need to purchase anything but basic materials.
