How to Dye Your Hair Pink like Harley Quinn – The Original Suicide Squad Look

This is a blog discussing the Harley Quinn character, the Suicide Squad movie and dyeing your hair a hot pink.

The new Suicide Squad, starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, is in theaters now. If you want to get Harley’s hot pink hair like in the film, you’ll need some direction. I’m here to help!

Harley Quinn’s Hot Pink Hair:

When I first saw the teaser trailer for Suicide Squad last summer I was floored by Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Dr. Harleen Quinzel AKA: Harley Quinn. From her speech of “Oh, you’re gonna go out there and fight bad guys? … Why don’t you let someone who loves you protect you?” to her look – which was spot on – she really nailed it and I can’t wait to see the movie. Her hot pink hair is one of my favorite things about her character. In fact, when my friend asked me what Halloween costume she should buy for this year I told her she absolutely HAD to be Harley Quinn for Halloween (and then proceeded to make her an awesome homemade costume).

Hot pink is one of my favorite colors so naturally I love that about Harley and have wanted to dye my hair that color since I first saw the trailer over

I’m in the process of changing my hair to the hot pink color that Harley Quinn has in Batman: The Animated Series, and I’m going to document it here.

Harley Quinn is a creation of Paul Dini and Bruce Timm for Batman: The Animated Series, which I will forever consider the definitive version of this character. It was there that we first learned about her as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatrist who fell in love with her patient (and super-villain) The Joker. This relationship is one of the most unhealthy and toxic in all of pop culture, but it’s also one that many people romanticize. I don’t want to get into an argument about whether or not it’s good or bad, because I haven’t got a clue; but I do believe that the idea of Harley Quinn is fascinating and incredibly fun. She’s crazy, she’s sexy and she’s a criminal mastermind! What more could you ask for?

I love Margot Robbie’s live-action portrayal of this character

Harley Quinn is a fictional character, an anti-hero and Batman villain created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, who first appeared in the animated series Batman: The Animated Series in September 1992. The character is a frequent accomplice and girlfriend of the Joker, whom she met while working as an intern psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, where the Joker was a patient.

Harley Quinn has been portrayed by several actresses in various forms of media: Arleen Sorkin in her first appearance in Batman: The Animated Series (1992), Hynden Walch on the The Batman animated series (2004–2008), Mia Sara in the short-lived live-action television series Birds of Prey (2002–2003), Tara Strong in numerous animated works since 1999, and Melinda Clarke in the live-action film version of Birds of Prey (2002). In this article, I will discuss how to dye your hair hot pink to look like Harley Quinn.

The original film version of Suicide Squad was released on August 5th 2016 with Margot Robbie playing Dr Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn. This is a very unique outfit that requires pink and blue dyed hair! We love this look!

So

This is the original Harley Quinn look, as seen in the new Suicide Squad movie.

I have had so many people ask me how I get my hair so bright, so I thought I would share with you all some tips and tricks to getting your hair a nice bright pink, just like Harley Quinn’s!

This is what my hair looks like right now…not super bright, but still a nice light pink. So let’s go back in time to when I first started dying my hair!

I will show you how to dye your hair pink like Harley Quinn in the movie Suicide Squad.

Harley’s hair is a vibrant pink with a light blue dip dye.

As of now, I haven’t been able to find any products that are an exact match for her hair in the movie, so I have done some research and found some alternatives that should get you pretty close.

In this article I will share the products I recommend and give detailed instructions on how to apply them to your hair.

I will also link to some great examples of people who have already created this look successfully. If you follow these instructions, you should be able to achieve the same thing!

My hair was already dyed so I just followed the directions on the box (see below). For anyone who has never dyed their hair before, it’s simple. You mix the dye and developer together, apply to your hair, put on a plastic cap and sit with it for about 20 minutes. I’ve never been brave enough to do my own hair in a salon so this is my first time attempting anything like that.

At first I wasn’t sure how to get the color even. My hair has some white strands and some darker bleached blonde strands. The pink dye didn’t seem like it was going to cover everything evenly. But after sitting with it for 20 minutes and rinsing it out, I realized I was wrong!

This is by far the boldest color of hair I have ever done; which is why I wanted it to look right. It was perfect! The only thing that worried me was whether or not the pink would come out in the wash. So far, no problem! After washing my hair several times now, the color has stayed vibrant and looks flawless.
