If you love the teletubbies and want to dress up like one, here is a guide for you.

Before you attempt to put on a costume, it’s important to find one that fits your body type. The teletubbies come in four shapes: round and short (Dipsy or Tinky Winky), round and tall (Laa-Laa), skinny and short (Po), and skinny and tall (Noo-Noo).

If you can’t find a costume in your size, remember that it isn’t necessary to be the same shape as the character. You can still dress like Po if you’re tall, or Laa-Laa if you’re fat, as long as you make up for it by wearing a hat.

I’ve been wanting to create a Teletubbies costume for a while now. I have previously made po costumes before, and I had a great time turning my sister into the Purple Teletubby.

Below are some tips on how to make your own Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa, or Po costume.

In terms of materials we used:

-1 piece of 2 x 4 lumber (the length will depend on the size of the person you are making the costume for)

-2 pieces of 1/4 inch plywood (you can use thicker plywood if you want, but 1/4 inch is light enough)

-2 pieces of 3/4 inch plywood (same as above )

We also used (but these are optional):

-a few long screws

-wire mesh (to cover the head hole)

Teletubbies is a British BBC children’s television series aimed at pre-school viewers. The programme focuses on four multi-coloured creatures known as “Teletubbies”, named for the television screens implanted in their abdomens. Recognised throughout popular culture for the uniquely-shaped antenna protruding from the head of each character, the Teletubbies communicate through gibberish and were designed to bear resemblance to toddlers learning to talk.

Though critics have panned the series for its content, Teletubbies has won several awards since its 1997 debut and has remained popular in much of the world well past its intended target audience. As a result, many adults have expressed interest in dressing up as one or more of the characters for Halloween or other events.

Of all the characters on Teletubbies, Tinky Winky is arguably the most popular among adults who wish to dress up as one of them because he is distinguished by his large, triangular antenna. Because there are no officially licensed costumes available for sale, however, you will have to make your own if you want to dress up as Tinky Winky or any other Teletubby.
