How To Wear a Venom Costume (Cosplay)

This instructable will show you what you need to do in order to make a Venom Cosplay. The image shown is the version of Venom that I made. I am pretty happy with how it turned out and I hope to be able to use this costume for many years.

I’ve been in love with the idea of making a venom cosplay since I was a kid. Once I got into high school and realized that I had some artistic ability, I started planning on making one from scratch. Although this was my first attempt at making a venom costume, I have made several other costumes in the past so I figured that this would be a good place to start (especially if you’re new to cosplaying).

Below are the main steps for building the costume:

Making the Pattern

This is a guide on how to make a venom costume.

The Making of a Venom Costume

As with all costumes, the first step is to make sure you have all the materials you’ll need for the project. Here’s what you need to make this cosplay:

-1 black leotard or unitard

-2 yards of 4-way stretch black lycra fabric

-1 yard of spandex white fabric (for teeth)

-A few yards of white elastic cord

-White and black thread

-Scissors and sewing needles

-Elmer’s glue or other fabric glue (I used Gorilla Glue)

The first step is to cut out your pattern pieces. If you’re not familiar with pattern making, don’t worry, it’s easy and I’ve included photos below. The pieces you will be cutting are: 1 long back panel piece that goes from shoulder to shoulder, 2 long side panels that run along the sides of the body, 2 longer front panels that go from shoulder to hip and 2 shorter front panels that will cover your chest. You will also need 8 small pieces for the fingers. Finally, cut out two strips of white spandex for teeth. Use a piece of cardboard about 6″ x

In this instructable I will be showing you how to make a Venom costume. This is perfect for wearing cosplay costumes and even perfect for Halloween! This costume can be found at any party store, or you can make it yourself. It is pretty easy to make if you have the right tools. If you don’t have the right tools then this costume could take longer.

In order to make this costume, you will need:

1) A pair of black pants

2) A black long sleeved shirt

3) Black fabric paint (black paint will work too)

4) An old pair of sneakers

5) A fabric marker (can be found at any craft store, or online)

6) A pair of gloves

The Venom Costume is a very popular costume. This guide will help you learn how to make one. I hope you find it useful.

This is the first part of a series on how to make a venom costume for cosplay. Here’s what you’ll need:

The first step is to get a black t-shirt and cut the sleeves off. Then put the shirt on and measure from your waist up to your armpit. Cut the shirt at that length, leaving a little extra material (about 1/2 inch) to fold over the edges. Next, take the bottom half of the shirt and cut it into strips, about 2 inches wide each. Then, sew these strips together in an alternating pattern so that they form a tube like shape around your legs.*

I have spent the last few months making a Venom costume from Spider-man 3. It was one of the most difficult projects I’ve ever worked on, but also one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it! First off, if you don’t know what Venom is, I’m not sure why you’re even reading this. I’m going to assume that you are familiar with Spiderman, and his nemesis Venom. If not, here’s a quick run through of who he is.

Venom began as a black substance that Spiderman encountered while on an alien planet. It attached itself to him and enhanced his abilities, but it also had a mind of its own. When Spidey rejected it after thinking it was trying to kill him, it turned into a monstrous creature that existed only to destroy him. The black substance eventually found its way into photographer Eddie Brock, and became the evil Venom we all know today.

There are many variations of the Venom look over the years, but for my cosplay I am using the most recent incarnation from the Spiderman comics published by Marvel Comics in 2011 (written by Rick Remender). For those unfamiliar with Venom’s comic book history, I recommend checking out Wikipedia’s article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venom_(comics)
