Make Your Own Dark Angel Costume for Halloweens or Cosplays
Let’s face it. Dark Angel costumes are awesome! And they are a great way to get your friends and family members to dress up and have fun. But what if you have no idea where to start? Well, here is an overview of how to create your own Dark Angel costume.
For my dark angel costume, I decided to use a black dress as a starting point. I found this one at a thrift store, which was perfect because it needed some alterations. First, the bottom hem is cut in a curved line, and I wanted it to be straight. I cut off about two inches of material, ironed it down, and sewed the edge under to create a clean hem. Next, I used safety pins to mark where the sides need to be taken in.
I then removed the dress, pinned a straight line across each side where you want them taken in, and then cut along that line. You can sew these edges together now or later; either way works. For added detail, I sewed the pieces back together with a decorative pattern on the sewing machine. I also created straps by sewing together strips of fabric; they are sewn onto the inside of the shirt so they are not visible.
Dark angel is a very stylish and elegant costume, which is easy to make. This one is the main character from the popular Japanese anime series, Neon Genesis Evangelion. It’s a really cute costume for Halloween or cosplay events. The main thing about this costume is that it’s very comfortable to wear. The only problem with it is that it has a short skirt.
You can use any material you want to create your own dark angel costume, but I recommend using leather or vinyl because they are very comfortable to wear and they look great.
What You Need To Make Your Own Dark Angel Costume:
1. Leather or Vinyl
2. Scissors
3. Sewing Machine or Needle and Thread
4. Stuffed Animal (optional)
5. Black Hair Spray Paint (optional)
6. Fabric Glue (optional)
7. Ribbon (optional)
8. Black Nail Polish (optional)
Get a black, white or grey dress shirt. Put it on. Make sure that the shirt covers your shoulders and that it isn’t too tight or too loose. If you’re using a white shirt, consider staining it with tea or coffee to make it look more weathered.
Cloak – If you want to go all out, buy a cloak (or make one yourself.) The costume shown here has a black cloak with red lining and weathered trimming. You can purchase this specific cloak at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KG7N8A?ie=UTF8&tag=tblo-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B002KG7N8A
If you don’t have the budget for a cloak, use an old sheet or blanket (or perhaps something else that is already in your closet).
Wings – The wings are made out of many pieces of fabric sewn together so that they have the right shape and coloration, but are light enough to be attached to the back of the costume with wire and string. You may also consider using feathery edges like those used on this
This is a step by step guide to making your own Dark Angel Costume for Halloween or Cosplay.
This costume is inspired by the manga and anime series “Angel Sanctuary”. The main character, Setsuna Mudo, (also known as Alexander in Heaven) has a twisted past and present. He is the reincarnation of the angel Rosiel, who fell for the love of a human girl Sara (Setsuna’s sister). After reincarnating, Setsuna takes on a new form, with white hair and wings that resemble an angel’s wing but are black as if they were burnt.
This will be your first step in creating your very own Dark Angel Costume.
First you must get yourself some wings. You can make them out of wire, tissue paper and glue or buy them from thrift shops and paint them black. Once you have your wings you are ready to move on.
Now it’s time to get yourself some angelic clothes. Find yourself a white robe or shirt with some long sleeves that hang down almost to the floor. If you want a more elegant look rent out an evening gown from any local party store. Then all you have to do is cut off the frills at the bottom so that it goes down only to your ankles or knees
