Batgirl Costume – How to Make Your Own Batgirl Costume

Batgirl is the alter ego of Barbara Gordon, daughter of Gotham City’s police commissioner James Gordon. As Batgirl, she has as much detective skills and advanced technology as Batman and Robin, but she does not possess the nearly superhuman physical strength of her male counterparts. The first Batgirl was featured in several stories in Detective Comics, the flagship title of DC Comics, in the late 1950s and early 1960s. After a long hiatus, she re-emerged in the late 1970s with an all-new identity, new costume and new background. This second Batgirl was featured regularly in the Batman Family comic book series throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s before giving way to her third incarnation in a 1988 storyline that introduced Cassandra Cain as the third Batgirl.
