Who Wore the Best Costume

I’m a huge fan of Halloween and costume parties, so I was pretty excited to go to the costume contest this past weekend. It’s a party where people dress up in costumes and then compete against each other for who has the best costume.

I think one of the most important things about a good costume is that it really captures something about the character or thing you are trying to represent. The best costumes are ones where you can tell who they’re supposed to be right away, even from far away.

My favorite costume at the party was definitely Peter Pan, who looked like he’d just stepped out of Neverland and come to hang out with us. He was wearing green tights and a green jacket with red trim on the sleeves and white feather on the collar (just like in the Disney movie). He even had little stuffed animals pinned onto his pants: a crocodile, a fox, and a skunk! They looked so real!

His hat was especially cool because it had little bells all over it that would jingle when he moved his head around. It must have taken him hours and hours to make!

He won first place in the contest!

Hi! This blog is about a costume contest between me and my sister. I’m going to be “Peter Pan” and she’s going to be “Captain Hook.” I think that my costume is way better than hers, but she thinks that her costume is way better than mine. We both decided that we would write blogs about our costumes, and whoever gets the most likes wins! Here’s what my costume looks like:

I got the idea for my costume from this book:

We’re going to have a party on Saturday night. Whoever gets the most likes on their blog before the party starts wins. I’m going to tell you how I made all of my accessories (the feathers for my hat, the skull for my sword, etc.) in future posts. My next post will be about how I made my hat.

The best costume award went to Peter Pan. He was dressed in green with a hat and a feather. He had shoes with little bells on the toes that jingled when he walked. He said he had been to Neverland and back for this contest. Congratulations Peter Pan!

The Halloween costume contest was a huge success and I want to thank everyone who participated. I had 70 people register online and another 30 register at the door. So we had 100 people in the contest. We had some pretty good costumes but we only have room for 10 winners.

The contest was held at the London home of Sir James Matthew Barrie (author of “Peter Pan”). The best costume prize was a bronze statue of Peter Pan; second prize was a box of chocolates. Barrie had purchased the statue in Paris, and it is this statue that now stands in Kensington Gardens.

I was at a costume party last night, and it got me thinking about the best costumes I’ve ever seen.

The party was amazing! There were so many creative costumes there, but my favorite of all time was a guy who melded his identity with his costume. He had these big furry eyebrows he wore all the time, and they ended up being part of his costume. He went as Yvan Eht Nioj, an anagram of “I have no idea.” It’s a reference to the Simpsons episode where Homer is in the hospital and Lisa asks him what the name of the man in room is, but Homer doesn’t know, because he has amnesia. So he says “Yvan Eht Nioj,” which is supposed to be an anagram for “Steve Mobbs.” I thought it was hilarious when I first saw it, but this guy really took it to the next level with his eyebrows.

I’ve always been a huge fan of pop culture references because they’re fun to recognize and easy to make. I like costumes that are puns or plays on words too. There are tons of great wordplay costumes out there, like “cat-astrophe” or “cereal killer.” But my favorite kind is when
