5 Easy Steps to Your Animal Costume

In this blog I will give you 5 easy steps to making a DIY animal costume. The costumes that are in this blog are:

1. A bumblebee

2. A butterfly

3. A shark

4. A tiger

5. A zebra

First, you have to choose which animal you want to be! Once you have chosen an animal, you can start getting the supplies for your costume. Here is a list of the supplies that you need:

-m&m’s (of course)

-cotton balls/felt for the tail/wings/fin

-glue/glue gun

-scissors

After you have gathered your supplies and decided on an animal, it’s time to get started on your costume! Here are some ideas for costumes that are easy to make:

1.Pick your animal of choice and find a reference photo to refer back to.

2.Sketch out how the costume will look on the model with a rough drawing on the dress form.

3. Fit the muslin rough draft of the animal costume on to the dress form and mark any adjustments that need to be made.

4.Take apart your rough draft and use it as a pattern to cut out your animal costume out of m&m’s fabric.

5. Sew up your m&m’s animal costume and enjoy!

Step 1: Go to the store and buy a bag of m&m’s. If you don’t have any on hand, ask your mom if she has some.

Step 2: Eat the m&m’s.

Step 3: Ask mom if you can have more m&m’s.

Step 4: Go back to the store and buy a bigger bag this time. You want an animal costume after all and you’ll need a lot of m&m’s for that.

Step 5: Cover yourself in glue and roll around in the bag of m&m’s until you look like an animal! Wait for the glue to dry and then go out trick-or-treating.

Making a costume for Halloween can be very expensive. But it doesn’t have to be. If you have a lot of m&m’s lying around, you can make an easy and cheap animal costume with them!

Here are the steps:

You will need:

– 2 large pieces of cardboard

– One roll of duct tape (you can use any color)

– A hot glue gun loaded with glue sticks

– Lots of M&M’s (any kind)

– A hot glue stick holder (or a friend to hold the hot glue gun)

You’re going to need something to hold the m&m’s. You can either buy one, or find one in your house. I used an old toaster oven. Cover it with foil so that no m&m’s get stuck when you take it out. Then, load it up with as many m&m’s as you think you’ll need for your costume. Heat up the oven until the m&m’s are warm (but not melted). Make sure all of them get heated. Remove from oven and let cool. The best way is to just leave it on your counter for about 1/2 – 1 hour. Make a template for your costume by drawing what you

Animal Costumes Made with m&m’s

By: Jessica Terrile

Are you ready for Halloween?? Well, here are some quick, easy, cheap and fun DIY costume ideas your kids will love!

All you need are m&m’s, a few other items and a little imagination.

1.Purchase the m&m’s of your choice and crush them up into small pieces in a large bowl.

2.Apply glue to an area of your child’s face (never use eyelash glue on your face).

3.Dip the glue into the bowl of m&m’s and place it onto their face. Make sure to cover their face completely so you cannot see any skin peeking through.

4.Let dry (it should only take about 5 minutes) and then wash off with soap and water!

5.Repeat this process until you have covered your entire body!**

Step 1: Gather your supplies.

You will need a bag of m&m’s, green and white construction paper, a glue stick, tape, black sharpie, scissors and a stapler. You will also need to print out the template for the animal you are making. You can find it here: http://www.allfreesewing.com/Animal-Sewing-Patterns/Free-Animal-Costume-Patterns

Step 2: Cut out the pieces of your pattern.

Cut out as many pieces as needed and make sure they are all the same size. If they are not the same size, you may have to re-cut some of them so that they will fit correctly when you sew them together. Just make sure that the pieces do not overlap each other too much or else you will run into problems later on with how to sew them together without ripping any seams!

This is an easy DIY costume to follow! It’s also one that you can make in only a few hours and with little supplies. You probably already have most of the items needed in your home.
