This post is inspired by the character Dark Angel Olivia from the manga series D.Gray-man. She’s a Noah, and her main weapon is her shadow that can split into three parts. A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to see Cirque du Soleil’s Iris show at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, CA. One of my favorite performances was definitely the steampunk inspired act. It was so cool that I decided to look up some steampunk costumes in honor of this awesome performance. Here is a photo of one of my favorite cosplayers dressed as a steampunk character:
I’m a little late to the party on this one, but I just ran across these pictures on Flickr and had to share them.
I thought it was an interesting take on the Dark Angel costume (from the anime show of the same name). It’s been done before, but this one is so different from any other I’ve seen.
It’s got a very steampunk theme, with many beautiful details. I love how they used gears and wires to decorate the wings and body parts. Very clever!
The wings are great too, nice and big. The best part? They’re not just for show – they actually move!

The Dark Angel costume is one of my favorites, and it’s not hard to create by yourself. If you’re familiar with cosplay events or anime conventions, chances are you’ve seen someone wearing a Dark Angel costume. It’s a very popular costume from the series.
The Dark Angel costume is actually a pretty basic outfit. It consists of a black top, pants and gloves. The top can be a regular shirt or t-shirt with some alterations. Most people use a pair of black capris for the pants, but shorts are also an option if you live in a hot climate and don’t want to wear long pants.
You can add accessories such as black wings, weapons and jewelry to complete the look. Some people also dye their hair or wear wigs. You don’t have to do any of those things though!
