Lily James looks lovely in this first look at her Cinderella costume. But where’s the dress? Are we supposed to call this ensemble a “costume”? I have so many questions!

Disney has released the first image of Lily James as Cinderella in their live-action remake of the classic tale that comes out next spring. The film also stars Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine and Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother.

Well, we have some ideas. The live-action film stars Lily James as Cinderella, Helena Bonham Carter as the fairy godmother, Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother and Richard Madden as Prince Charming. And it looks like they’re going to give this classic story a modern twist.

If they follow in the footsteps of other fairy tale remakes such as Snow White and the Huntsman or Maleficent, this version of Cinderella won’t be your typical pink dress-wearing teen.

So what will she wear? We took a page from our own closets for inspiration to create six looks for Ella to wear at her big ball –and for everyday life.

It’s the image we all have of Cinderella: the crystal slipper, the poofy blue gown, the gigantic headband.

So when Disney released a sneak peek of its upcoming movie, Cinderella, we were surprised by one thing: The princess’s exact costume is nowhere to be found.

What do you think it will look like?

In the trailer and photos, we see Ella (Lily James) in rags and later in a pale yellow gown that looks straight out of a fairy tale. But there’s no sign of her iconic ballroom dress or her glass slippers.

If this is what she wears to the ball, it probably means that they’re going with a more modern take on Cinderella, as they did with their live-action version of Alice in Wonderland.

We’ll have to wait until March 2015 to find out!

Cinderella isn’t the only Disney flick getting an update next year. Kenneth Branagh is directing a live-action version of Cinderella’s fairy godmother-filled sister film, Sleeping Beauty.

The costume designer said she wanted the dress to look “like a dream,” adding, “We tried many different options before finding the final design.”

Cinderella’s gown will be on display at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom from January 22 until February 20.

“The exhibition will also feature other items from the film, including the iconic glass slipper and an ephemera exhibit that showcases early sketches, renderings and illustrations of Cinderella costumes throughout the years,” Disney said.

The movie Cinderella hits theaters on March 13, 2015.

The Cinderella movie that was released in 1965, shown above, is definitely the most popular of all time. The classic animated movie about a girl who lives in the palace with her father and mother. The story follows the adventures of Cinderella as she tries to find her way back home.

You can also get some great accessories such as wigs, masks and shoes to complete your look.

The Disney princesses are known for their beautiful dresses and hairstyles, but not all of them have been able to pull off these looks without having help from a professional hair stylist or makeup artist.
