How To Make An M&M Costume!

How To Make An M&M Costume!: Blog about how to make an M&M costume.

My kids are really into their costumes this year! They have been asking since summer when they could start thinking about what they were going to dress up as for Halloween. I think the main reason is that they wanted to be able to pick out a costume and get it before they had the chance of having it picked out for them, like last year when I waited until two days before Halloween to decide on costumes. My son wanted to be an M&M last year, but he ended up being a cowboy because that was the only thing we could find in his size. So this year, I told him he could be an M&M and I would make him the costume from scratch. Here’s how you can make your own:

Materials needed:

– 1 red tank top (for children)

– 1 red tshirt (for adults)

– 1 bag of white felt fabric (more than one if you don’t have a 40% off coupon)

– hot glue gun and glue sticks

– scissors

Optional: red pants/shorts/skirt, yellow shoes/socks, green gloves, etc.

How to Make an M&M Costume!

Materials:

* Cardboard box (size is dependent on the size of your child)

* Green, brown, yellow and red felt (or you can use red and green if you prefer)

* White paint

* Paint brushes

* Spray adhesive

* Glue gun

* Yellow tissue paper or newspaper

* Scissors

1. Cut out arm holes in the cardboard box and then cut a hole in the bottom of the box (make sure it is big enough for your childs head to fit through). If you want you can add a strap to hold the box up. You can do this by placing two strips of cardboard at the two points where the bottom of the box meets the top and attaching them with duct tape. If you do this, be sure to put your child in their costume before adding the strap so that it fits properly. Also, make sure there are no sharp edges that could hurt your child.**2. Use spray adhesive to attach yellow tissue paper or newspaper to cover one side of the cardboard box. Allow this to dry completely and then repeat on other side.**3. Using spray adhesive again, attach green felt over one side of the costume. Be careful when doing

I took a lot of pictures as I was making this costume, so I figured I’d write up a blog post on how to make an M&M costume! This is the costume I made for my daughter’s school Halloween party. She was super excited about it, and we’re planning to use it again for trick-or-treating too.

I started out by buying a green hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants, because she wanted to be the green m&m. I then bought a bunch of red felt, and cut out arm circles, leg circles, and large circle pieces. After that I cut out yellow felt strips for the middle part of the m&m logo. Then I got out my sewing machine!

I sewed all the pieces of felt onto the sweatshirt and sweatpants. Then I wrote “m&m” in black sharpie on the front of the sweatshirt. After that I attached a piece of ribbon to each side of the sweatshirt (to tie around her head), and attached two more pieces of ribbon on each side of the sweatpants (to tie around her waist).

Finally I sewed on some black buttons for eyes (sew them on with black thread so you can’t see the stitches) and

To make an M&M costume, start with a basic leotard. Then, use fabric paint to draw the brown M&Ms in a random pattern. Be sure to include the white “m” on the front of the leotard. Then, cut out pieces of cardboard and cover them in colored paper to create the M&M buttons. Once you have all the buttons, glue them randomly on the leotard. Finally, top off your costume with white tights and black shoes to look like M&Ms!

I’m going to show you how to make a fun and cheap costume using one of everyone’s favorite candies, M&Ms. This costume is easy to make and is guaranteed to turn heads!

First, you’re going to need to get some green felt for the leaf on the M. The only problem with this is that you can’t buy a small amount of green felt from a fabric store. When I made my first M&M costume I bought 2 yards of felt for about $2.70 at a local fabric store. Although this was more than I needed, it has many uses like making small stuffed animals or clothes for dolls or action figures. If you don’t want to buy 2 yards of felt, you could probably ask someone who is already making a costume if they would be willing to sell you enough felt to make the leaf on an M&M, because they will most likely have plenty left over at the end of their project.

Next, you’ll need some red fabric. The best way to get this is also at a fabric store: just buy 1 yard of red fabric and that should be more than enough for your costume.

Now we’ll need some white cotton stuffing (the kind used for stuffed animals). This should be pretty easy

Here is the M&M costume I made for my son. It was very easy and cheap to make. I will list the materials needed and give an overview of how I put it together. Hope you enjoy!

Materials:

1. Red sweatsuit (top and bottom) or red sweatpants and a red long-sleeve shirt

2. Blue fabric paint (I used Tulip brand found in the craft section at Walmart)

3. Cardboard (I used a piece of cardboard from a box)

Step 1: Cut a circle out of cardboard slightly bigger than your child’s head. Attach a string on either side so you can tie it like a hat once it is on the head. Add stuffing to the front so it will stick out more when worn. I recommend putting tape around the edge of the cardboard to make it smoother and less likely for it to scratch your child’s face. Then spray paint it blue. Let dry then add white circles using fabric paint (found in craft section at Walmart). You can use paper circles as a stencil or simply freehand them like I did.)

Step 2: Paint white circles onto each hand using fabric paint and let dry completely before putting on sweatshirt/sweatpants. Use paper circles

Materials:

– Ten five-foot cardboard tubes.

– Five feet of duct tape or other strong tape.

– A large rubber band.

– A sharpie marker.

– A large square of fabric (I used a white bed sheet).

– Scissors (or an electric knife).

– A box cutter or utility knife.
