How to Wear Your Stormtrooper Costume

Caring for your new Stormtrooper Costume:

Your stormtrooper costume will last a lifetime if you take good care of it. If it is to be worn, we recommend that you line the inside of the costume with a cotton lining, this enables you to wear the costume in comfort and also minimizes any perspiration marks. The helmet must be cleaned with warm soapy water using a soft cloth. The helmet should never be cleaned using abrasive materials or solvent cleaners.

We recommend that all costumes are stored in a clean dry place, if possible hanging on a clothes hanger or laid flat, never store your costume in a plastic bag. Any excess moisture should be dried off using kitchen towel and the items hung up in a warm dry place. This will minimize any damage caused by bacteria or mildew.

They wear imposing white armor, which offers a wide range of survival equipment and temperature controls to allow the soldiers to survive in almost any environment. Stormtrooper armor features a built-in breathing device and communication gear, notably a long-range comlink. The armor’s white plastoid plates were dull matte white in color, which helped keep the troopers’ temperatures low, thereby allowing them to survive in hot climates. Your new Stormtrooper costume is made from a very high quality ABS plastic material, which is commonly used in the manufacturing of professional motorcycle helmets and other similar products that require a hard, durable, lightweight and shiny surface. The surface of the armor is mirror-like in its smoothness, but it is not as thick or strong as metal or fiberglass. Your armor will not dent if you bump into things while wearing it, but it could scratch or scuff if rubbed against rough surfaces.

The plastic surface has a slight texture to it that helps hide fingerprints and small scratches, so don’t be afraid to touch your armor; just don’t rub it against any rough surfaces or other objects that may be harder than the plastic.

Our helmets are made of the same ABS plastic as the armor, but they have been painted with a high gloss white paint on the outside and a slightly less glossy white paint on the interior. The helmets do have foam padding on the inside that can get dirty over time, but they can be easily washed with warm water and mild

Now that you have your stormtrooper costume, you’ll want to keep it in pristine condition. Make sure you read the following tips and suggestions.

Properly store your stormtrooper costume in a cool, dry place. If you use the same plastic bag that your costume arrived in, carefully air out the bag and make sure it is completely dry before using it. Your costume’s padding can easily become moldy if exposed to moisture.

Wash your helmet with warm water and mild soap. Do not soak your helmet or get any of the electronics wet.

Clean your armor with a damp cloth. Stubborn dirt may require gently scrubbing with soap and a soft brush. Towel dry, then air dry before storing.

I have been a stormtrooper for 2 years (not every weekend, but every month or two). I always get asked how my costume holds up to the elements. I wanted to share some tips on what has worked best for me.

1. Keep your helmet, vest, and shinguards inside by a window/door (if possible). This helps keep the moisture out of your kit. If you live in a humid area, like Florida or Louisiana, this is especially important since it can take weeks for the moisture to dry out.

2. When storing your armor, put it in a box (I use an old military storage container that holds my blasters and all my armor parts).

3. When not in use, take care of your blasters! I keep mine in a foam lined box with dividers (I got this at Hobby Lobby). You don’t want them banging around and chipping paint or getting scratched up while you are driving to events/cons/etc.

4. Don’t leave your armor/blaster in direct sunlight or heat as it can cause warping or melting.

5. I highly recommend getting an EVA foam mat (like the ones used for exercise) and cutting it down to fit the inside of
