Buzz Lightyear Costume: An easy way to dress up as Buzz Lightyear for Halloween.

Buzz Lightyear is a great character to dress up as for a party – particularly in a mixed age group where the kids will enjoy it as much as the adults. It’s also easy to do in that it requires little more than a white outfit, white boots and some coloured plastic accessories which can be bought cheaply from most shops.

The only drawback is that it can be very hot! I’ve been Buzz Lightyear twice now, and both times I’ve been absolutely boiling hot after an hour or so. It’s not helped by the fact that most of these costumes tend to be worn in October or November when it’s already pretty chilly!

The main body of the costume is white, and you can go as simple or complicated as you like here. A simple version might be just a white shirt and trousers, whilst another version might include a full body suit with Buzz’s armour plating on the upper arms, chest and legs (or even the whole suit if you’re feeling really adventurous!).

The basic parts are:

This is an easy costume to make and everyone will know who you are.

You will need:

-White long sleeved shirt

-White pants (not jeans)

-Purple gloves

-A black belt (not a skinny one)

-Purple boots (military boots work great!)

-Green or blue alien antennae headband thingy (I got mine at the dollar store)

If you want to take it to the next level, get some fun foam and a hot glue gun and make wings. Or order a pair of wings off Ebay. You can also get a toy gun and holster to add the finishing touches. -Green ski cap (or green duct tape)

-A large white piece of cardboard or foam board

Materials:

* 1 White Jumpsuit (sold at most costume stores)

* 1 Toy Buzz Lightyear Helmet (sold at most toy stores)

* 3 Yards of Purple Fabric (found at any fabric store)

* 2 Purple Hair Scrunchies (found at any department store)

Instructions:

1. Take the white jumpsuit and put it on. If you can’t find a jumpsuit, then you can just wear a white shirt and a pair of white pants.

2. Put the purple fabric around one leg, and tuck it in so that it looks like a boot cover. Repeat with the other leg.

3. Tie the purple hair scrunchies around each arm so that they stay in place. Also tie one around your chest so that it looks like a vest.

4. Place the toy helmet on your head and make sure that it is comfortable and secure.”

Buzz Lightyear Costume

This is a simple way to dress up as Buzz Lightyear for Halloween. It’s not the most authentic, but it’s quick and easy and the kids will probably like it.

You’ll need:

-a white sweatsuit or pajamas (or white pants and jacket)

-a black turtleneck (optional, but more authentic)

-black gloves and shoes

-a toy gun or similar object

-white duct tape

The first thing you do is decorate your sweatsuit with the duct tape. The easiest way to use duct tape is to put a piece down on the table, sticky side up. Then you can put another piece on top of that one without getting your fingers stuck together. You can keep layering pieces of tape like this until you get a big enough piece to wrap around part of your costume. It’s OK if some of the seams don’t line up exactly, or if it overlaps a bit. The important thing is that you cover all the white parts with silver duct tape.

Now use silver duct tape to cover your toy gun so it looks more like Buzz Lightyear’s blaster weapon. If you don’t have a toy gun, use silver duct tape to make a small rectangle

The Buzz Lightyear Costume was much of a surprise for me, as it turned out to be the most popular costume this Halloween. The costume was very easy to make and consisted of a few easy things that were purchased or made at home.

The primary outfit is white jumpsuit with a black turtleneck (which I used a long sleeved shirt from my son). Next I used some left over material from other projects and cut out arm and leg bands. I made these by simply cutting out strips of material and then hemming them. Then I folded them in half and sewed up the sides. Then I attached velcro so they could be pulled on easily.

Next, the utility belt was an old belt we had around the house that I cut apart and re-sewed. Then I took some cardboard and cut out squares and attached velcro to them so they could be attached to the belt. The last thing was attaching a buckle to the front of the belt which was made out of more cardboard.

Finally, I took some white poster board (you can probably use any kind of cardboard) and cut out shapes for the wings and attached them with pieces of string to his arms so that they could be lifted over his

This is a simple, quick and inexpensive costume to make. It is also easy to wear and quite comfortable. These pictures show the costume that I made on the left and what the final product should look like on the right.

1 yard of white fabric (this can be any kind of fabric you like)

1/2 yard of black fabric

1/2 yard of red fabric

1/2 yard of green fabric

3 yards of Velcro sticky-back tape (or safety pins if you do not have Velcro)

4 Black buttons for wrist communicator

1 White button for wrist communicator (optional)

Tools needed:

Sewing machine or needle and thread

Fabric scissors or rotary cutter with mat & ruler (much easier)
