I had a hard time finding a Mario costume for my son, so I decided to take on this project. Here’s what I did:
I bought red overalls from the children’s section of Target. They were $15. I found a brown belt in the clearance section at Joann Fabrics and bought it for $3. I also bought brown felt at Joann’s for $5.
I used the felt to make an M with some orange string and hot glued it on the front of the overalls.
I cut off some excess fabric from the belt, and hot glued it onto the shoulder straps of the overalls to make them look like they were suspenders.
I got some white socks and black shoes from Walmart to complete the costume.
The total cost was around $20, which is cheaper than most Halloween costumes you can buy online or in stores.
